There was a party in Ingersoll on
Saturday that was a 50th
anniversary. Now this one wasn't a
wedding or birthday but an event
that changed many lives.
On May 15, 1952 Jane and
Harman DeVries and their six
children came to Canada from
Holland. Jane carried her six-week-
old son. The oldest child was
16.
The party was from her children.
They were celebrating the courage
of their parents and so Jane spent the
weekend with her descendants
remembering all the memories that

come with 50 years of a very good
choice.
The next time you can catch Jane
at Efuronlea get her to tell you a
story. She can make an ocean
voyage with little children or
travelling in a new language in a
large new country Or settling into a
new community sound oh so simple.
And yes, we could all do it just
fine.
Well Jane we're all very pleased
that you and yours made the choice
to come here. Congratulations on
your special anniversary.
The Palliative Care volunteers are
doing a fine job of educating our
area. Last week Dr. Bill Webster
spoke to caring people in Clinton
about the journey of grief. He has
first hand experience about sudden-
death and had some very wise words
for us to consider.
Like all learning — new ideas and
thoughts let the old go when
presented in such a humble and
sincere way. Thanks for lots of new
thoughts.
On Thursday of this -week — the
Wingham and Area Palliative Care
people have organized an evening of
, grief as a spiritual journey. A call to
the Wingham office would give you
details of another good learning
experience.
I hope you're busy gathering
things for the community garage
sale on May 25. It's a good chance
to trade your treasures for new
ones.
By the way if you're heading to
the 5Rs with your leftovers give
them good stuff or send along a
couple of bag tags. You know what's
really junk!
I hope Mother's Day was fun for
you. It certainly was here.
It really is amazing to watch
heredity at work and to be able to sit
The Friday night supper of
Salisbury steak was enjoyed by a
large crowd. This week is chicken
wings and salads.
Saturday was the final day of the
Huron County darts. About 30
darters enjoyed the afternoon, then
about 90 gathered to enjoy a
delici6ns roast beef dinner served
by the Ladies Auxiliary. Awards and
presentations were made.
Saturday afternoon euchre was
attended by 12 tables of avid
players. Taking home top honours
were Stuart and Lois Chamney with
74 points. The second place team
was partners Rita Flynn and Marg
Carter with 73 points.
Coming in third place with 70
points were John and Iola Subject.
The lucky lone hand winners were

There were six lucky door prize
winners.
Euchre is every two weeks.
back and smile as it happens.
So on behalf of all the mothers,
thanks for the visits, the hugs, the
flowers and most of all the
memories.
Life is good.
Bye now.
