Rev. Paul Ross conducted a
Heritage Sunday service at
Londesboro United Church on
Sunday, April 7. As each familiar
hymn was sung Rev. Ross gave its
history and the story of its author.
Hymns were Jesus Loves Me, Tell
Me The Old, Old Story, Amazing
Grace, Just As I Am, Guide Me 0
Thou Great Jehovah, Onward
Christian Soldiers, and Mine Eyes
Have Seen The Glory.
The April meeting of the
Londesboro UCW has been moved

Londesboro United Church held
its 22nd annual Gospel Songfest on
Sunday evening with a full house.
Musical groups of all ages and sizes
shared their talents to the Glory of
God.
Eighteen young people of
Londesboro church's junior choir,
directed by Barb Bosman and
assisted by Kathryn Allen, opened
the evening of music with
appropriate numbers. The audience
enjoyed The Tooth Song, Creature
Praise and Tell Me Why which
featured actions and three girls on
xylophone notes.
The Keith family of Goderich,
Hunkings
On April 7, Lorne and Addie
Hunking enjoyed a family dinner at
Thames Road United Church to
celebrate their 60th wedding
anniversary. There were 37 in
attendance to share in the festivities
and memories.
Lorne and Addie were married
Dad, Mom and their three children,
entertained with gospel tunes
familiar to many of the listeners.
Accompanied on the piano by Doug
Squire, they offered Swing Low,
Sweet Chariot, My Lord What a
Morning, and Go Now in Peace
among others.
Recognizing that the Easter season
is the most important Christian
calendar event, many of the
selections sung by The Lighthouse
Trio from the Strathroy area
reflected that.
Among the numbers in the
ministry of these three women were
Resurrection Man, The Price of One
celebrate
April 11, 1942 in Blyth attended by
the former Shirley Wallace and the
late Joe Hunking. Addie is the
daughter of Charlotte (Wallace) and
Frank Bell of Morris Twp. Lorne is
the son of Rose (Lyon) and William
Hunking of Hullett Twp.
The couple farmed on the 12th
Crown, and There Is Hope.
The Seaforth Harmony Kings were
a treat for the eyes as well as the
ears. This group of men celebrating
20 years of music were attired in
white suitcoats set off by red plaid
vests and matching bowties.
In their first set they entertained
with the music of Irving Berlin, for
example, The Melody Lingers
On.
Directed by David Campbell their
presentation also featured a quartet,
a soloist and a group of seven
singers. One of their members,
Bruce Whitmore, introduced the
songs and gave information about
Conc. of Hullett Twp. until 1969
when they moved to Londesboro. In
1997 Lorne and Addie moved to an
apartment in Clinton. Mike and
Shannon (Duizer: the Hunking's
granddaughter) Clark now live in the
house.

If you enjoyed the presentation at
the UCW Christmas meeting last
December by Marjorie Duizer and
Margaret Gruber, you might want to
go to Port Elgin this weekend. These
ladies are two of the members of the
Ontario (Rug) Hooking Craft Guild,
who will be conducting workshops
on the art of traditional rug hooking
and showing their projects. The 2002
theme is Mardi Gras and the show is
Sunday, April 14 from 9 a.m. to 12
p.m. at the CAW Centre in Port
Elgin. Perhaps you, too, will get
hooked on this interesting craft.
the group itself.
Starting their second set was the
Barbershoppers theme song, We Sing
That They Shall Speak. This Little
Light of Mine ended the evening.
Instrumentals were also featured in
the program. Proud of the recently
purchased Rogers organ,
Londesboro's organist, Barb
Bosman, played a medley of pieces
to demonstrate its capabilities.
During the second half of the
program, Ms Bosman and emcee
Rev. Ross played piano and flute
duets, The Rose and Old
Deuteronomy frcm the stage hit
Cats.
Due to failing health the couple
moved to Exeter Villa in 2000.
Arrangements for the anniversary
party were handled by Marjorie
(Duizer), Art and Murray, the
