THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 3, 2002. The guest speaker at the March meeting of the Belgrave WI was Linda (Mrs. Bruce) Campbell who does manual therapy out of her home. She explained the differences between the three kinds of therapy that she practises. Reflexology is preparing the body to heal itself by relaxing. By pressing the nerve endings on the bottom of the feet all parts of the body can be helped to heal. Deep muscle therapy is a gradual healing process, because the muscles come in layers and it takes at least three treatments to help. Manual lymphatic drainage draws impurities out of the body. Clusters of lymph nodes are located in various places in the body and very light pressure on , these nodes can rid the body of lymph fluid. Most treatments are a combination of all three areas. General maintenance is important to help circulation and reduce stress. On March 19 Isabel Campbell introduced Detective Kevin Hummel who works for Crime Stoppers out of Goderich. During the past year they received 216 calls from people reporting theft, drug dealers, etc. Crime Stoppers is a volunteer group involving the community, the media and the police force. Anyone phoning in a tip with information about a crime can receive payment if the information is used for a conviction. The volunteers fundraise and no tax dollars are given to support Crime Stoppers. The international phone number is 1-800-222-8477.
