The next early bird draw is Dec. 15 for an autographed helmet by Steve Yzerman in the "You Pick the Pick Up!" There are still 125th calendars available. If you don't know what to get someone for Christmas, get them a calendar. Jason Badley is still in Parkwood Hospital in London and Ernie Phillips is a patient in Wingham hos- Huron OPP officers on Dec. 9 in the late afternoon executed a search warrant at a residence on Belfast Road in North Huron. Officers found 14 pounds of mari- juana on the property and also seized a lighting system for growing plants. The value of the marijuana seized was estimated at $28,000. During the investigation vehicles were found on the property, a green 1995 Land Rover and a green 1998 Jaguar. These were stolen from Peel Region. The two vehicles were valued at $65,000 and reports indicate that one pital. We hope to see them home shortly. The family of Bill and Violet Cowan surprised them and came to help celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary. They brought along a delicious meal and after had pictures taken. Bill says it was a very warm, sunny day (shirt-sleeve weather) 55 years ago. Those attending the anniversary were their sons, Dwight and Marion, George and Christine and Chris and Barb. Grandchildren included Tim and Julie, Jeff and good friend Leanne and Julie. Congratulations Bill and Violet. Fifty-eight relatives gathered at the Belgrave WI Hall for their annual Christmas gathering on Saturday, Dec. 8, hosted by Marilyn Craig and family and Nancy Daer and family. A delicious turkey dinner was served by the Institute ladies. They also cel- ebrated December birthdays: Mike Park, Petrolia; Amanda Cortes, Tavistock; Jamie Craig, Atwood and Jonathon Hakkers, Blyth. After Santa Claus gave out the gifts with lots of little helpers, the evening was spent playing Court Whist. Those was stolen in 1998 and the other in 2000. One 45-year-old of North Huron man has been held in custody await- ing a bail hearing Tuesday at 2 p.m. He has been charged with three counts of assault, two counts of pos- session of stolen property over $5,000 possession for the purpose of trafficking and production of a con- trolled substance. Guest musician was Lynda Lentz- McGregor. Lighting the second advent candle was the Hakkers fam- ily. Bruce's message to the children was that all the people in the congre- gation were their guardian angels and would help them if they were in trouble. Melissa and Bruce's mes- sage to the adults was that Jesus was coming to earth as a baby and the angels were to tell the lowly shep- herds.
