Brussels Livestock report
Fed steers, heifers sell $1-$2 lower at sale
Total receipts for the Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Oct.
26 were 4,455 head of cattle, 358
lambs and goats.
On Tuesday, fed steers and heifers
sold at prices $1 to $2 lower. The
cows sold steady. On Thursday both
the veal and the lambs sold at prices
steady to last week. On Friday the
calves and yearlings sold steady this
week.
There were 572 steers on offer
selling from $95 to $100 with sales
to $117. Enoch Martin, Linwood,
consigned one limousin steer weigh-
ing 1,375 lbs. selling to Norwich
Packers for $117. His overall con-
signment of eighteen steers averaged
1,504 lbs. selling for an average of
$105.74. Perry Sereda, Centralia,
consigned one blue steer weighing
1,425 lbs. selling to Norwich
Packers for $113.75. His overall
consignment of sixty steers avel-aged
1,382 lbs. for an average of $99.34.
Five black steers consigned by
Glen Walker, Wingham, averaged
1,410 lbs. which sold for $101.75.
His overall consignment of nine
steers averaged 1,390 lbs. for' an
average or $100.39. Rehorst Farms,
Teeswater, consigned four steers
averaging 1,393 lbs. selling for an
average of $99.47 with his top black
steer weighing 1,370 lbs. selling to
Norwicii Packers for $103.75.
Three limousin steers consigned
by Rolling Acres, Clifford, averaged
1,357 lbs. for $102. Their overall
consignment of nine steers averaged
1,394 lbs. for an average price of
$98.91. One limousin steer con-
signed by Jeff Mollard, Parkhill,
weighed 1,370 lbs. and sold to
Ryding Regency for $101. His total
consignment of three steers averaged
1,380 lbs. for $98.31. Murray Shiell,
Wingham, consigned two black
steers averaging 1,278 lbs. which
sold to Moyer Packing Co. for
$103.25. His overall consignment of
twenty-two steers averaged 1,397
lbs. for an average of $97.04.
Doug Shiell, Wingham, consigned
six steers averaging 1,578 lbs. sell-
ing for an average of $95.51 with
sales up to $100.50. Thirty-seven
steers consigned by Samuel S.
Martin, Mount Forest, averaged
1,514 lbs. for an average price of
$95.14 with his top grey steer weigh-
ing 1,370 lbs. selling to Moyer
Packing Co. for $102.75. Fred and
Lynda Helwig, Neustadt, consigned
seventeen steers averaging 1,529 lbs.
selling for an average of $94.35 with
a top price of $101.
There were 343 heifers on offer
selling from $95 to $100 with sales
to $110. Bill Kerslake, Staffa, con-
signed one limousin heifer weighing
1,195 lbs. which sold to Dominion
Meats for $110. His overall consign-
ment of twenty-two heifers averaged
1,202 lbs. for an average price of
$102.73. One black heifer consigned
by Walkover Farms, Walkerton,
weighed 1,065 lbs. selling to
Norwich Packers for $108. Their
overall consignment of fifteen
heifers -averaged 1,149 lbs. for
$101.46.
Merkley Farms, Wroxeter, con-
signed eight heifers averaging -1,263
lbs. selling for an average price of
$103.26 with sales to $103.50. One
RWF heifer consigned by B & T
Farms, Ailsa Craig, weighed 1,375
lbs, and sold to .Moyer Packing Co.
for $104.50. Their .overall consign-
ment of twelve heifers averaged
1,276 lbs. for an average price of
$102.61. Jack Elliott, Ripley, con-
signed three heifers averaging 1,188
lbs. which sold for an average or

aged 1,265 lbs. for an average price
of $95.81 with his top black heifer
weighing 1,275 lbs. selling for

There were 252 cows on offer. D1
and D2 cows sold $60 to $65 with
sales to $77; D3, $55 to $60; D4, $45
to $55. Henry Veldman, Hensall,
consigned one holstein cow weigh-
ing 1,365 lbs. which was purchased
by Aylmer Meat Packers for $.77.
One holstein cow consigned by

weighed 1,305 lbs. selling to
Packerland Packing Co. Inc. for

Lucknow, consigned one cow
wejghing 1,020 lbs. which sold for
$75.
There were .14 bulls on offer sell-
ing from $63 to $76.50 with sales to
$83. One limousin bull consigned by
Don Kuntz, Mildmay, weighed
2,240 lbs. selling to Aylmer Meat
Packers for $83. Joe Shetler Jr.,
Auburn, consigned one limousin bull
which weighed 2,080 lbs. and sold
for $82.
There were 128 head of veal on
offer. Beef sold $100 to' $136;
Holstein, $100 to $119; Plain
Holstein, $70 to $90. Don Eadie,
Wingham, consigned one limousin
veal heifer weighing 706 lbs. which
sold to Holly Park Meat Packers for
$136. Two holstein veal steer con-
