L. McDonald
greets
at Duff's
Leona McDonald greeted wor-
shippers at Duff's United Church on
Oct. 28.
Joan Tuchlinsky welcomed every-
one to the service. After the opening
hymn she announced that if there
are any children wanting to join the
youth choir to give Brian Black a
call.
-This was Reformation Sunday.
During the children's time Joan
explained to them about how Martin
Luther tried to change things
(reform) in the early church. That is
when the early church split into
Catholic and Protestant.
Her sermon was called, The spirit
poured out on all.
If anyone in downtown Walton
woke up Sunday morning to find
their leaves raked up and put into
bags they have Duff's youth group to
thank. They had a Rake and Run
night, plus a lot of other fun things.
Shannon Gibbons, the youth
leader who was aided by Brad
Finlayson and Joan Tuchlinsky, were
in charge of the Saturday happenings
for the kids. They met Saturday
afternoon and they carved pumpkins,
made muffins, played a lot of group
games, had a mystery supper in
which they all had to eat spaghetti
with forks, fingers, potato masher,
tongs and other kitchen gadgets that
came with the meal.
There were around IS young peo-
ple who participated in the events of
the day. Pillow fights, music and just
all around good fund was had by all.
Heidi McClure, Gloria Wilbee and
Judy Beuermann were part of a bus
load of women who went to Toronto
last Thursday to watch the very pop-
ular Mama Mia, the Abba musical.
Heidi said that it was great, well
worth going to see.
I have talked to quite a few people
who have seen it and everyone has
said how spectacular it was. It is
actually being held over and will be
running into January.
Oct. 28 was Doug Fraser's 75th
birthday. Happy Birthday, Doug
from all your Walton friends.
Balloon
found far
from home
Driving into town recently Joyce
Triebner untangled some well-trav-
elled information.
Spying a balloon caught in the
bushes along Conc. 16 in Grey,
Triebner also noticed that it had a tag
attached. The balloon contained a
note from a Grade 4 student at
Sunflower Elementary School in
Lenexa, Kansas named Rachel. She
explained that her Grade 4 class had
released the balloons as part of their
geography studies.
Triebner is sending the card back
with a map of Ontario on which she
has circled Brussels. She is also
sending a Canadian pin.

Frances Clark, Evelyn
Christensen and Grace Cartwright
attended the recent euchre party at
Clinton Bowling Club.
Lois Haines and members of her
family went to Boumanville, N.Y.
for a memorial service for her late
sister. She passed away during the
terrorist attack in USA which
delayed the services.
Knox United Church members
were guests of their sister church of
Londesboro for the anniversary
service Sunday.
Joyful Noise, a musical group,
was in charge.
A salad lunch and social gathering
was enjoyed following the service.
Bible Study was held at Kay
Lapp's home on Oct. 23. Scripture
was from Mark 10. Christ knew that
he would die and explained this to
his disciples, but they did not under-
stand.
Looking back in the Old
Testament, there are predictions that
this would happen to Jesus. Also
Jesus observed the Passover with
the disciples and spoke of the value
of his blood for God's kingdom.
He also brought to attention scrip-
ture in Isaiah on the affliction that
from it would be glory and God's
spirit in charge.
Rev. Paul Ross closed with
prayer. Kay invited the members to
the dining room and grace was said.
Lois Haines assisted the hostess and
lunch and a social half hour closed
the meeting.
