Ah — the sun is shining. This will
help in my recovery of having to
drive to work Friday night in a
snowstorm. I was just not quite
ready for the white stuff, but once
again it's a good reminder that we
don't run the show. And, isn't that a
good thing!
Do you wonder sometimes if
we're related to the bears? Really,
we seem to get into a pre-hibernation
mode each year about now and wan-
der from church to arena to Legion
to hall to library to church. And lo
and behold at each stop there is food
waiting.
Now, the more I think about that, it
sounds like a good plan to encour-
age. From the folks I've seen at the
various eating functions, we could
start a chapter of the Bears Club. -
Speaking of clubs, the Red Green
followers need to watch the show on
Nov. 9 (I know you watch every
week) but there may be a distin-
guished Pipe on the show. A few
weeks ago the taping in Toronto was
the destination for Gary and Murray
and they took the Grabers, Chris and
Phil, as tour guides.
Rene, Julie, Jean and their United
Church company are smiling as they
review their work for the silent auc-
tion. They were extremely pleased
with the participation, the wonderful
donations and the mood of the over-
all project. Thanks for your part in
our community.
Alice Brothers spoke for Lyle
(again) as they passed on the honour
of Brussels Citizen of the Year to the
Scott family. Nelva accepted the
plaque with gracious words and Jim
reminded us about the qualities of
his dad that made him and Nelva fit-
ting recipients of this award. Lunch
and a social time at the United
Church gave- their friends an oppor-
tunity to congratulate and mingle.
We are truly blessed to have the
Brotherses and the Scotts in our
midst. They portray the ideal volun-
teer and so we salute them in this
Year of the Volunteer. What great
examples.
Watch for the gremlins tonight.
They're having such a good time
they sometimes forget the safety
rules. Dig our your old hat and greet
the spooks at the door with a smile
and a song and scare them.
Bye now, Betty G. W.
