Friday, Oct. 26 has been designat-
ed black and orange day. Students
and staff are asked to dress accord-
ingly. Primary students will be
involved in cross-curricular
Halloween activities that afternoon.
The Student Council has planned a
dance for Grade 5, 6, 7, and 8 fol-
lowing afternoon recess on Oct. 26.
The Huron County Health Unit
will be holding a community flu
clinic at Grey Central on Tuesday,
Nov. 13 from 1 - 7 p.m.
Mrs. Colquhoun's classes have all
done dictation. All of the classes
have songs about their unit in
French.
In Mrs. Scott's class they have
been learning about the letter I. The
SKs talked about Inky the Mouse.
They worked with ink pads and
stampers. They are learning how to
make musical instruments.
Mrs. Bowler's kindergarten class
is learning about the letter N and are
going to be making some necklaces.
The students in Miss Hill's class
are involved in pumpkin activities.
They made pumpkin muffins last
week and are looking forward to
carving their pumpkins soon!
Mr. Park shared two spooky sto-
ries with the Grade 6 class during
learning buddies this week. In art,
they are studying secondary colours.
All of those weeks learning about
soil finally paid off. Mrs.
Hemingway's Grade 3 class had
their "soil test" this week, and are
probably very glad to have gotten
that over with. The students in the
Grade 3 class are also learning about
how pioneer children lived, and are
comparing their lives to those of the
pioneer children.
In spelling, they are learning about
nouns. They are also doing some pat-
terning activities, and playing, "Steal
the Bacon", in phys ed.
In music, some new songs are
being learned, such as North wind,
Skin and. Bones, Little Tommy
Tinker and Button, Button.
Mrs. Murray's class saw Dancing
Leaves this week! One day it was
extremely windy and the leaves were
flying and twirling as if they were
Sleightholm; tally, Margaret Long,
Bob Bateman, Hazel McKenzie,
Norm Dobson, Ken MacDonald,
Walter Bridge, Eva Harrison, Bob
Bremner, Jean McNaughton, Scott
McLean, Shirley Verstoep, Frank
McKenzie.
The next euchre will be held on
Oct. 29 at 8:30 p.m.

Ward on the arrival of Brooklyn
Mary Ward.
Sympathy is extended to Donald
and Joan Deitner on the recent pass-
ing of Donald's mother, Josephine
Deitner, a long-time Grey Twp. resi-
dent.

Fletcher who were married Oct.
dancing. In art they are doing
mosaics and complimentary colours.
Mosaics are pictures made out of
tiny, cut out squares.
They are about to learn about New
Brunswick in social studies.
Grade 4/5s are interested in their
fun science activities on matter.
Mrs. Mitchell's class worked in
groups last week to plan and run a •
paper airplane event. Students
applied their knowledge of flight
,when designing and constructing
planes to compete in a variety of
events: distance, accuracy, precision,
freestyle and speed.
The Grade 6s are working on
measurement and perimeter in math.
In art last week they used their shad-
ing skills to illustrate apples, from
the first bite to the last.
Miss Henry's Grade 7s will soon
be finished their units on New
France and the earth's crust. The
next unit they will be working on its
about heat.
Mr. Payne's 7/8 class has been
working on impressions from the
forest at Grey Central Public School
in art. In math, the Grade 8s are
working on circumference, the dis-
tance around a round object.
The Ethel euchre was held on
Monday, Oct. 15 with 14 tables in
play, hosted by Grace and Harry
Smith.

Helen Dobson; lone, Marion
