(Vicky Bremner photo) ACW sees stream report The Twp. of Ashfield-Colborne- Wawanosh received a report on the 2001 stream testing program at its regular council meeting on Aug. 7. Mike McElhone, representing the Ashfield-Colborne Lakefront Association, reported on the pro- gram being carried out in co-opera- tion with the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority. McElhOne also advised. that the association was conducting additional research on the pumping out of septic systems. Council was informed that the association was providing volunteer labour and had raised $5,280 towards the two-year project. They requested a grant to help with the cost. Council agreed to provide a donation of $1,500. Council also resolved that the stream testing document be sent to the Ministry of the Environment, George Garland of OMAFRA and Helen Johns, MPP for Huron-Bruce requesting a respOnse. . Council supported a resolution from the Twp of West Grey request- ing that the Ontario government take immediate action to resolve the med- ical care practitioner shortage in the province. This support was to be communicated to the Health Ministry, the Premier and the local MPP. ** * The public works director was instructed to purchase a new road grader at a cost of $258,635. *** The public works superintendent was instructed to have the two defi- cient fuel tanks at the Ashtield shed replaced, according to the quote from the Lucknow & District Co-op. *** Bills and accounts totalling $277,826.65 were approved for pay- ment.
