THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JULY 18, 2001. Obituaries CAROL ANN VINCENT Carol Ann Vincent of Prosser Brook, NB, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, July 10, 2001. She was 47. Born in Wingham on May 29, 1954, she was the daughter of Greta (Humphrey) of Wingham and the late George Webster who predeceased her in 1999. She will be sadly missed and always remembered by her hus- band Don Vincent; her daughter Angela Vincent attending Mount Allison University, Sackville, NB; her sons, Patrick and Aaron Vincent attending Sir Sandford Fleming College, Lindsay; her sister, Brenda and her husband Terry Rutledge of Auburn, parents-in-law, Harold and Edith Vincent of Belgrave; brothers- in-law Murray Vincent and his wife Joyce, Neil Vincent and his wife Joan and Grant Vincent, all of Belgrave. She was also loved by nine nieces and nephews. Mrs. Vincent rested at the A controversial report issued by the Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care (CTFPHC) has ques- tioned the effectiveness of regular breast self-examination. The report suggests there are no benefits for women between the ages of 40 to 69 to conduct breast self-examination. "Although the health unit will con- sider the findings of the report, we will continue to educate women about breast self-examination", said Penny Nelligan, director of the health unit. "We encourage women 40 - 69 to con- tinue regular breast self-examination as part of their breast health routine." CORA MAE ROBERTSON Mrs. Cora Robertson of Wingham, passed away at Wingham and District Hospital, Wingham on Thursday, July 12, 2001. She was 89. The former Cora Phair was the beloved wife of Donald Robertson who predeceased her in 1980. Mrs. Robertson was predeceased by her children Mary and Murray in November 1962. Mrs. Robertson was a well-known musician in Southwestern Ontario. A member of the Don Robertson's Ranch Boys, she was a regular on the CKNX Saturday Night Barndance and Circle 8 Ranch which ran on CKNX TV for over 23 years. Cora was church organist at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Wingham, from 1965-1983 and was organist at the funeral home in Wingham for over 30 years. Following her retirement she taught piano, organ, and accordion to numerous students at her home. Visitation was at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Saturday from 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service was held at the funeral home encourages women 40 - 69 to continue monthly breast self-examinations as one part of their breast health routine. This routine must include a yearly clinical breast examination performed by a physician or another trained healthcare provider. Women aged 40 - 49 should discuss mammography with their physician. Women 50 - to 69 should have a mam- mogram every two years (or as recom- mended by your healthcare provider). "I feel that it is a woman's choice to learn proper breast self-examination," said Heather Lyons, local cancer pre- vention and screening advocate. EDWIN WOOD Mr. Edwin Wood of Huronlea, Brussels and formerly of Hullett Twp., passed away on July 12, 2001. He was in his 97th year. Mr. Wood was a member of Londesboro United Church. He was a charter member and first president of the Wheel 'N Dealers square dancing club of Clinton. Mr. Wood actively farmed in Hullett Twp. until two years ago. He was the husband of the late Harriet E. (Gray) Wood who predeceased him in 1994.
