The Citizen, 2001-07-04, Page 8It was an entertaining game, June
25, when Brussels U-9 I traveled to
Momington Public School to take on
Newton 3.
There was a lot of mid-field action
with head shots and long distance
kicks to keep the ball moving from
one end to the other. Shots on net
were limited by good defensive play
by both squads.
Christopher Becker started in net
for Brussels, being challenged early
when a shot went wide. Good clear-
ing kicks moved the play up field for
his forwards. Vicki Blake played
excellent defence, aiding the netmin-
der and passing the ball out.
Brussels got on the board first
when Andrew Lindsay took the ball
the length of the field, passing to Ty
Sebastian for the netter. Lindsay net-
ted one of his own minutes later
when his shot from the side went off
the post and in. Adrian Menzi and
Marissa Pipe worked hard to get the
ball away from their opponents
