THE EDITOR, This year marks the 50th anniver- sary of the Maitland Valley Conservation (MVCA). We're cele- brating five decades of conservation success. The conservation authority is a community-based organization dedicated to helping municipalities, community groups and landowners to preserve, restore and protect the environmental health of rivers, forests and other natural areas. As chair of the MVCA I am pleased to invite watershed residents to participate in our upcoming anniversary celebrations. On Aug. 15 we'll be hosting a bus tour of the watershed highlighting innovative conservation services. Tour stops will include several water quality initiatives, a look at the Listowel conduit and a flood forecasting sta- tion, and visits to several Conservation areas. Come and see some of our past accomplishments acibk Please Recycle To This Newspaper HEALTH NEWS: ORGAN DONATION 0 & As Organ donation: Did you know? The publication will also highlight the Maitland Watershed Partnerships, an ongoing environmental initiative. Call the Conservation Authority office at 335-3557 by Aug. 3 for more information. THE EDITOR, It was with a great measure of dis- tress that I read the letter proposing yet another congregation of the Christian Church in the Blyth- Wingham-Brussels area. In a time when the scandal of Christian divi- sion is turning the gospel into a laughingsiock among those who dis- believe, to suggest that yet another church is needed seems to be the height of foolishness. The marks of the congregation are reported to be that it is: I. Christ cen- tred. 2. Bible-believing. 3. Fellowship friendly. 4. Growth geared. Are we seriously to believe that the proponents of such a new congrega- tion believe that there is no local con- gregation which currently exhibits these characteristics? Surely such self-serving arrogance is the very opposite of the meaning of Christ's teaching ? Did He not express the desire that Christians should be one, as He and the Father are one? Division, sectarianism and fragmen- tation are the enemies of the gospel which we profess to believe.
