FROM BLYTH Hort. Soc. holds spring meeting Blyth Horticultural Society held its spring invitational meeting Monday, May 14 at Memorial Hall with 41 people in attendance, including 18 from Goderich, Clinton, Seaforth, Brussels and Holland. Betty Battye welcomed everyone. The guests from Holland were Mary Hoonaard's sisters. Mrs. Battye talked about the .Greenway Project. There are now two barbecues, a picnic table and gazebo along the walkway, in addi- tion to the butterfly gardens that Blyth Horticultural Society created and maintains. After a brief business meeting, Harvey Snell, assistant director for District 8 of_ the Ontario Horticultural Association, gave a brief report on the annual meeting held in Chesley April 28. Attending from Blyth were Harvey and Deanna Snell, Dan and Annie McInnes and Lois van Vliet. Special entertainment were clowns, Boonie and Bugsy from Auburn. Before performing some humorous skits, they gave a brief his- tory of clowns, having had their training at the Children's Aid in Goderich. In appreciation for the work that the Blyth Horticultural does, Boonie and Bugsy donated their time. Guest speaker was Jamie Rodgers from Rodgers Botanical Garden in Colborne Twp. (near Carlow). He showed colour slides on making and maintaining a backyard water gar- den. He said they are becoming more popular than ever with more and more being built. Habitat needs all types of volunteers at one of our builds. Construction experience is not necessary. Just the desire to have some fun. So join us in 2001 at a build and help a family in need of decent, safe, affordable housing. 0 Homes Buiki0. 7 9, QC, • • ->iet ) Habitat for Humanity For more information on Habitat for Humanity and to contact your nearest affiliate, contact us at 1-800-667-5137 Residents of Blyth and area should not have to worry about a decrease in physician services. Dr. Dan Rooyakkers hopes hours will eventually be lengthened since the client base at the office has increased substantially since it first opened, he said in a phone interview Monday. Through continued recruitment efforts by the Seaforth Medical Clinic administration, Rooyakkers hopes to have another doctor providing servic- es at the Blyth office. "I hope we can get back to the hours we had when Dr. (Janet) tette( was here."
