THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 2, 2001. Obituaries DOROTHY GOVIER Dorothy Irene Govier of Londesboro passed away at Clint& Public Hospital on Monday, April 23, 2001. She was in her 62nd year. Dorothy Govier was born in Hullett Twp. on Aug. 21, 1939, the daughter of the late William and Evelyn (Carter) Knox. Mrs. Govier was a seamstress for Bainton's Old Mill. She was the beloved wife of Murray Govier. Loving mother of Glenda Cooper and Terry Ritchie of Blyth. Blaine and Tracey Johnston of Sherwood Park, Alta., Dori Johnston and Chris Saloun of Edmonton, Alta., Lee and Albert Kwong of Edmonton, Alta.; Sonya and Jeff Werner of Cambridge, Gary and Sandra Govier of Edmonton, Alta., Herb Govier and Tammy Rose of Blyth, Sherri Govier of Clinton and Connie Govier and Don Dale of Seaforth. She will also be sadly missed by 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was the dear sister of Marjorie and David Martin of RR I, Listowel and Charles and June Knox of Goderich. Mrs. Govier was predeceased by her parents and one brother Harold Knox. Friends were received at the Blyth Visitation Centre of the Beattie- Falconer Funeral Home Ltd., 407 Queen St., Blyth on Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. where the funeral service was held on Thursday, April 26 at 2 p.m. Interment was in Blyth Union Cemetery. Rev. Paul Ross officiated. Flowerbearers were Justin Ritchie, Whytni Ritchie, Jasmyn Kwong, Brandon Kwong, Serina Govier and Alix Sholdice. Pallbearers were Andy Smart, Irvine Schneider, Doug McNall, Lorne Brown, Ken Josling and John McNall. Donations to the ALS Society of Ontario would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. MARJORIE MCDOUGALL Mrs. Marjorie Lauretta (Toll) McDougall of Auburn, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2001 in her 83rd year. Marjorie was born in ,(,East WawanoshTwp. on May 25, 1618 to Frederick and Laura (Stewart) Toll. She was the loving mother of Bernice and Gordon Gross of Auburn, and Allan McDougall and his friend Glynda Williams of Sudbury. She was the cherished grandmoth- er of Anita Gross and Scott Allen of Goderich, Bryan Gross of Auburn, April Gross of Oshawa, Angie, Shane and Marcie McDougall of Sudbury. She was the dear sister and sister-in-law of Aubrey and Marie Tot i of Blyth, Amy MacCrostie of Goderich and Stewart Toll and Leba Silvert of London. Marjorie was a faithful member of Knox United Church, Auburn where she acted as treasurer until 1999. During her lifetime she enjoyed her involvement with the UCW, Bible Study Group, and the Women's Institute. Her love of music and piano playing will be fondly remem- bered by many. At Marjorie's request there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at the Knox United Church, Auburn, on Saturday, June 2,2001 at 2 p.m. Cremation with interment of ashes will be in Blyth Union Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Knox United Church, Auburn would be greatly appreciated. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Leo Racine; son, John and Marlene Racine, Amherstburg; Doug and Lee Racine, Alberta; Margaret and John Bowers; Mark Racine, Amherstburg; and Michel Sinasic, Amherstburg. Also surviving are brother and sis- ters, Jim and Delores Howatt, Londesboro; Bernice Pierce, Blyth; Eyvonne and Erwin Schneider of Salford; June and Ken Turner, Strathroy; Elgin and Evelyn McNall, St. Marys; Douglas and Marjorie, Stratford. Forty nephews and nieces are also left to mourn her passing. She was predeceased by one son Paul Racine, George Willis, and Jim Pierce. The funeral was held in Amherstburg on May 1. JOHN THOMAS BEN- NETT Capt. John Thomas Bennett, a res- ident of Amherstburg and formerly of Ridgetown, died on Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at the age of 85. Born in London, Ontario he was the son of the late Aaron and Annie Louie (Straughan) Bennett. Capt. Bennett was a member of Howard Masonic Lodge #391 and the International Shipmasters Association-Detroit Lodge #7. He was the beloved husband of the late Agnes Kathleen (Arnold) Bennett (1997) and dear father of James T. Bennett, Amherstburg and William A. Bennett and his wife Jane, Sault Ste. Marie. He was the grandfather of Richard, Jodie Lyn, William, Jeffrey and Jill. A memorial service was conducted at the McKinlay Funeral Home, Ridgetown on Saturday, May 12 at 1:30 p.m. Interment of cremated remains will be in Mayhew-Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Thamesville.
