In tribute The Listowel District Secondary School choir sang a special tribute to 14 people sworn in as new Canadians during a citizenship court at LDSS. All history students from Grade 10 through OAC attended the event to learn how much it means for people to become Canadian citizens. Mortals Praise to perform at Mennonite Fellowship Mortals Praise, the premier vocal ensemble from Providence College and Seminary in Manitoba, will be performing at Brussels Mennonite Fellowship in Brussels on Sunday. May 13 at 9:30 a.m. The goal of Mortals Praise is to demonstrate leadership in worship and ministry to others. Fourteen new Canadians were sworn in by Dr. Frank Hayden, citizenship judge. Following the swearing-in cere- mony and the taking of the oath by the new Canadians, Dr. Hayden asked all the students in attendance to stand and repeat the oath reaf- firming their beliefs in Canada as Canadians. Exeter Lodge visits Brussels The regular meeting of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge was held on Tuesday, April 24. Ten sisters from Pride of Huron Lodge, Exeter visited and presented .the travelling gavel. Three songs from the President of Rebekah Assembly program .were sang including Jesus You Have Come to the Lakeshore, Climb Every Mountain and One Day at a Time. A donation was sent to Humanitarian Service Programme, which supports Camp Trillium, Rainbow Lake and leukemia research. Fast has studied at the University of Manitoba, the University of Toronto, and the Britten-Pears School for Advanced Musical Studies in Aldeburgh, England. Woman leaves for east coast as Peacemaker Sunday, April 29 Brussels Mennonite Fellowship had a special "sendoff' for Lena Siegers who is rejoining Christian Peacemaker Teams in Burnt Church N.B. Christian Peacemaker teams camped on the "esqanoopatig" Reserve at Burnt Church last lobster fishing season. They will again observe, hoping that no further vio- lence will erupt over lobsters. CPT hopes that with their presence and human rights observing, no one will get hurt. CPT meets with gov- ernment officials and the native fish- eries, hoping that they will sit together to find justice and peace on the water. Christian Peacemaker Teams is a violence reduction team supported by Friends United, Church of the Brethren and the Mennonite Church.
