Brussels Livestock report
Norwich Packers buys steer for $136
Total receipts at Brussels
Livestock for the week ending April
27 were 3,370 head of cattle and 733
lambs and goats.
On Tuesday, fed steers and heifers
sold at prices $2 to $4 lower. Cows
sold on a strong steady market. On
Thursday veal sold steady to last
it week whit the lambs sold sharply
lower to la week. On Friday, calves
and yearli gs sold on a steady
market.
There were 399 steers on offer
selling from $118 to $125 with sales
to $136. Dennis Calhoun, Chesley,
consigned one blonde steer weighing
1,240 lbs. selling to Norwich
Packers for $136. His overall
offering of one hundred steers
averaged 1,441 lbs. and sold for an
average of $122.15. One limousin
steer consigned by Johnston Farms,
Bluevale, weighed 1,145 lbs. and
sold to Norwich Packers for
$135.50. Their overall offering of
forty-two steers averaged 1,324 lbs.
and sold for an average of $121.03.
