That got me thinking about our

FROM BRUSSELS
Hypnotist
entertain ladies
By Jo-Ann McDonald
It was a busy week at the Brussels
Legion Branch.
The early part had Cadets, Beavers
and darts making use of the building
and the services it can provide. Friday
night supper was ham and scalloped
potatoes. There was a super turnout.
Saturday, there was a poor turnout
for the Ladies Stag. However, those
there enjoyed the hypnotist and the
comedic antics that resulted. The psy-
chic "Roz" had a full day of readings
And everyone was amazed at her accu-
racy.
Sunday morning was breakfast with
the added treat of waffles. It was
enjoyed by a good crowd as usual.
The Scouts were on hand helping
clean tables and received their dona-
tion for their trip to P.E.I. this summer.
Feeling under the weather are
Comrades Alf Sutton and Roy Brenie.
Our best wishes for their health
improvements.
Lodge hosts euchre
Sister Elva Brown District Deputy
President of Huron District #23 made
her official April visit to Morning Star
Rebekah Lodge, Brussels. There .•was
a good attendance at this meeting.
Several sisters visited with shut-ins
during the past two weeks.
On Wednesday, April 12 the District
meeting was held in Brussels lodge
rooms with Past Noble Grands present
from Clinton and Exeter lodges.
Entertainment consisted of humor-
ous readings, a penny contest and a
skit called The Bean Family. Three
draws were held with Sister Helen
Coates, Exeter winning a bunny bas-
ket. The Easter lily was won by Sister
Marion Young, Brussels and a bunny
thermometer won by the lucky Sister
Mary Davidson, Brussels.
A delicious dinner of scalloped
potatoes and ham was served by Joyce
Jacklin, Mae Ebel and Marion Young.
The Morning Star Rebekah Lodge
casserole supper was well attended.
Seven tables of euchre players
stayed to play. Winners were: door
prizes, Muriel Whitfield, Joan Van
Vliet; 50/50, Erma Brighton; high
lady, Yvonne Knight; low lady, Sarah
Stephenson; high man, George Inglis:
low man, Les Knight; most lone
hands, Mervin Schneider; birthday
prize, Viola Adams; lucky tally, Bill
Kellington.
It was a high-flying day for two
Brussels seniors when they took to
the skies over Winnipeg to say "I
do."
Ah spring — watching the miracle
of growth, the many shades of green
and the kick of new lambs is awe-
some.
The social scene is quite busy in
April. Just check the ads for places to
go and people to see — buck and does
to celebrate upcoming unions, din-
ners as fundraisers, music nights for
entertainment. There are choices,
lots of choices.
The Maitland Conservation
Foundation had its party on Friday
night at the Community Centre toe
tapping music, Cardiffs and Co.
there with great food and lots of
prizes to buy or win. The money sup-
ports the Wawanosh Nature Centre
visited last year by 5.000 students.
Those are pretty impressive numbers
and it was a terrific party.
clouds.
Though he had suggested it to his
soon-to-be bride al; those years ago,
Schade said she was less than enthu-
siastic.
Schade and Sauve took to the air
12,000 feet above Winnipeg on April
21 in a Skyward Aviation Beechcraft
King Air plane, with a few family
members and a minister.
The newlyweds plan to tour
Ontario next month before heading
west to visit family in Alberta.
Not quite herself
Under the spell of hypnotist Jeff West, April Ashley finds herself becoming quite tall. The enter-
taining presentation was enjoyed by a few, but enthusiastic group of participants- at the
Brussels Legion's Ladies' Stag on Saturday night. Also on hand throughout the day was palm
reader Roz. (Vicky Bremner photo)
