The Blyth Bantam Bulldogs
captured the south Group play-
off trophy, sweeping Drayton
in three games. The Bulldogs
provided their version of the
comeback kids, trailing in all
three games, before coming
back to pickup wins.
The final series opened in
Blyth on March_ 19. Drayton
scored in the first minute of
play, however the Bulldogs
came back to tie the score at
two at the end of the second
period. The third frame was
scoreless, setting up overtime.

Brussels PeeWees are bat-
tling in a tight playoff series
with Zurich.
The first game in Zurich
March 21 set the tone with the
squads skating to a 4-4 tie. A
mid-period goal in the first
was answered before the
buzzer when Brent Wheeler,
with an assist from Adam
McClure knotted the score at
1-1.
The teams continued to
trade points throughout the
contest with one each in the
second and two in the third.
With just minutes left in the
middle period, the home team
took back the lead only to
have Steven Ropp sneak on
past their goaltender a minute
later. Greg Bowers and
Andrew McDonald set up the
play.
With just under seven min-
utes of play remaining in the
game, Matt McClinchey
bulged the twine to put
Brussels up by one, but this
was cancelled seconds later:
Things got scary when with
the clock counting down the
final three minutes, Zurich
put one past the Brussels-net-
minder. The visitors never
gave in, however, responding
a minute later when
McClinchey glided in to score
his second of the game. Phil
Wedow assisted.
This pushed the contest
into overtime, but despite
numerous chances, the close-
ly matched teams were unable
to light the light.
Two days later Zurich
came into town ready to play.
McClinchey continued his

Finally in the third period of
overtime the game was decid-
ed: The Bulletts brought the
puck in to the Elma Logan
zone which the defenders
were unable to clear and
Nicole White passed the puck
over to Nicole Procter who
backhanded it into the Elma
Logan cage.
The Bulletts skated away
with the league championship
assist from Micah Loder to
clinch game one. Stewart and
Loder scored Blyth's other
goals with helpers -from Nate
Witherspoon and Ryan
McClinchey.
Blyth travelled to Drayton
for game two on March 21.
The Bulldogs again fell behind
3-1, before scoring two late
second-period goals to notch
the game at three.
The Bulldogs played a solid
third period, scoring three
unanswered goals to seal a 6-3
win.
Loder led Blyth with three

final two minutes of the open-
ing period. The helper again
went to Wedow. As was the
case in the earlier game
Zurich responded with one of
their own to go into the sec-
ond period with a tie.
A strong showing put
Zurich ahead by two after the
break, but McClinchey put
his team within one as the
buzzer ended the middle peri-
od. Doug Schnock assisted.
The visitors held off the
Brussels attack in the third
and scored another to take
this game 4-2.
The two teams faced off in
Brussels March 24.
McClinchey scored every
home goal in the 4-3 victory.
Again Brussels took a first-
period lead with Tyler Jutzi
setting up the play.
Brussels went up by two in
the second, with Bowers get-
ting the assist, but Zurich nar-
rowed the lead minutes later.
The hosts got some more
insurance early in the third
when Steven Ropp and
Wedow set up McClinchey
for his hattrick, but two quick
goals by Zurich tied it before
the buzzer.
Again the squads were
forced into overtime and with
just over two minutes left in
the period, McClinchey with
a helper from Ropp sealed the
victory.

Popp, John Lecomte and Matt
Popp cleared their zone often
giving their team breathing
room and more chances to
head for the opposing end.
Stevenson popped a shot
into the Oakridge net just as
the buzzer rang to end the sec-
ond.
The third period saw
London ahead by three goals
as the Cronin, Black, Cook
line combined to rush the net
and pop one in that rolled on
the line and fell forward.
Although London came out
on top to finish the tournament
for Blyth the fans and coaches
were more than pleased with
the showing of the Bulldogs,
who displayed a lot of deter-
mination and grit as they
played from the first to the last
second of each game.
Stevenson was named MVP
of the game.
