approves remuneration bylaw

Council for the Twp. of North
Huron passed a bylaw at the Monday
night meeting setting council
remuneration.
Reeve Doug Layton will receive
an honorarium of $9,500, While
Deputy-Reeve Jeff Howson is paid
$7,500. Councillors each receive a
stipend of $6,500.
The honorarium includes two
regularly scheduled council
meetings per month and one
committee/board meeting per
month.
Council members will also
receive $60 for each special
council meeting attended during
the year. A $90 per diem
allowance for a full day and a
$60 per diem allowance for
one-half day meetings and
conferences or conventions for
municipal business will also be paid..
A full day meeting exceeds 4 1/2
hours.
The meal allowance was set at a
maximum of $50 per day at
conferences and meetings for
municipal business.
The mileage was set at 32 cents a
kilometre.
Expenses relating to conferences
or conventions which exceed $1,500
shall not be paid by the municipality
unless approved by resolution of
council
