NOTICE TO DOG OWNERS
IN THE TOWNSHIP OF NORTH HURON
2001 Dog Tags are now available at the Municipal Offices in Blyth
and Wingham Wards. Tags for residents of East Wawanosh will
be sold by a dog counter as in previous years.
Life time tags sold to dog owners in the former Town of Wingham
are null and void as of January 1, 2001.
An owner or boarder of a dog(s) shall within 10 days of becoming
such an owner or boarder, and thereafter on or before the 15th
day of February cause such dog(s) to be licensed for one year.
The fee schedule shall be as follows:
(a) First Dog $20.00
(b) Each Additional Dog $25.00
(c) Pit Bull or Pit Bull Cross $100.00
(d) Kennel Licence $90.00
A $15.00 late payment charge shall be assessed in addition to the
licence fee after February 15th.
Proof of Rabies Vaccination must be available at the time of
purchase.
The By-law requires dog owners to forthwith remove excrement
left by the dog anywhere in the municipality of the Township of
North Huron. Any person contravening this provision is subject
to a $50.00 administration fee.

PeeWees lead in tight playoff series against Tara
Brussels PeeWees have taken a
series lead in their playoffs against
Tara.
On Feb. 7 in Brussels, the squad
came out on top of a 4-1 contest. It
was tight through the first with the
hosts shutting out the visitors, while
managing just one of their own when
Steven Ropp found the net with an
assist from Greg Bowers.
A two-goal second period gave
The Blyth PeeWee Bulldogs host-
ed Bayfield in their first game of the
WOAA group playoffs.
The Bulldogs came out flying
from the start notching their first
goal early in the opening period.
Darcey Cook took a pass from Josh
Albrechtas and fired a high wrist
shot over the shoulder of the
Bayfield goaltender. Darren Austin
took over from here, picking up a
pass from Christopher Bernard and
walking in on the Bayfield netmin-
der to beat him on a nice shot. Austin
increased the Bulldog lead to three
with an unassisted goal.
The Saugeen-Maitland Lightning
Bantam Girls travelled to Brantford
on Feb. 6 for a game with the
Brantford Ice Cats.
Krista Cameron struck midway
through the first to open the score,
assisted by Jackie Zacher and
Heather Walker. Crystal Ferguson
snookered the goalie with a low shot
on a feed from behind the net from
Walker to round out the scoring for
the period.
Saugeen increased their lead to
three on the power play when Jessica
Highlanders win
The Grey Bruce Chapman Ice
Cream Major Atom Highlanders
have finished their first round of
playoffs with a big win against
Halton. The Highlanders won 8-2.
Scoring for Grey Bruce were Kevin
McArthur, unassisted; Jim
Hutchinson, with a hattrick, assisted
by Jeff Colton with two, Adam Jones
and Chris Corbett; Adam Jones with
two goals, assisted by Jordan Wright
and McArthur; Wright from
McArthur and Mike Longpre and
Derek Widmeyer from Rhys
Thomas.
Goalie Sean Van Beurdan made
Many timely saves.
Brussels a big lead, but 40.seconds
before the buzzer Tara finally lit the
light to narrow the margin. Matt
McClinchey and Tyler Jutzi tallied
the home side's markers. Assists
• went to Phil Wedow and Adam
McClure.
The third period was pretty much a
repeat of the first, with Tara being
kept off the board and Brussels man-
aging one. Matt White scored with
Bayfield tried to come back find-
ing the net in the second and closing
the lead to two. Austin scored the
hattrick seconds later, again unas-
sisted with a nice wrist shot that
eluded the Bayfield goaltender.
With the Bulldogs in a command-
ing lead Austin took a pass from
Justin Dobie and Kyle Procter and
busted the twine with his fourth goal
of the night. Austin still wasn't
through as he popped one into the
top corner of the Bayfield net on a
nice pass from Brett Bean giving the
home team a 6-1 lead with 14:21 to
go in the game.
Mann bulged the twine on the
Lightning attack, assisted by
Cameron. After getting the puck
from Mann, Katie Whytock snuck
around the Brantford defence and
lifted it high into the corner to all but
put the game out of reach for the Ice
Cats.

On Feb. 9 in Tara, the hosts scored
the overtime goal for a 3-2 victory.
Brussels had the lead in the first
when Brent Wheeler, assisted by
Wedow and Cory Chapman bulged
the twine.
Tara tied in the second, only to
have Brussels jump ahead once
again before the buzzer. McClure
scored this one with Doug Schnock
Albrechtas increased the Blyth
lead with a nice goal on a pass by
Bernard. Bayfield responded with
two goals before the end of the
game, however it was a little too late
as the Bulldogs were successful
walking away with a 7-3 victory.
The playoffs are a round robin for-.
mat with Blyth, Bayfield, Belmore
and Howick each playing a home-
and-home series. The top two teams
advance. The Bulldogs next travel to
Howick on Monday, Feb. 12,
Belmore Feb. 13 and are at home to
face Howick on Thursday, Feb. 15 at
6:45 p.m.
Brantford had a couple of power
play opportunities in the third to try
and get back into the game but was
thwarted by Terri Allen who record-
ed the shutout for Saugeen.
The Lightning is on idle until Feb.
18 when they host London in
Howick for an exhibition game.

The victory seemed certain with
Brussels holding on through the
third period, but with two seconds
left in the game Tara tied it, forcing
overtime, then taking it with a goal
at 9:47.
The neck-and-neck struggle con-
tinued in Brussels Feb. 11 when after
both teams failed to score in 10 min-
utes of overtime the squads settled
for a 4-4 tie.
Tara got the lead first in thijs one
keeping Brussels off the boards until
the second period. Wedow, set up by
McClinchey finally lit the light with
minutes left, followed shortly after
by a second goal from Tate
Stephenson, assisted by McClinchey
and Jutzi. The lead was short-lived,
however, as seconds later Tara tied
it. With a minute left in the period,
Tara snuck one by the goalie to take
the lead into the final.
Wedow tied it up off a play from
McClinchey and Stephenson, but
seven minutes later Tara got the lead
again. Then with just over three min-
utes of play remaining White
found the net. The assist went to
McClure.
Brussels now has two wins and a
tie, while Tara has one win and a tie.
Game five was Monday in Tara.
