ports Pre-Tykes play first
Brussels Atom Reps took to the
ice in Grand Valley, Dec. 12, suf-
fering defeats at the hands of New-
market and Kitchener.
The first contest was unsettling
for the squad, unaccustomed to
playing non-body contact. Two
early penalties left the players ten-
tative.
Downed 6-2, Brussels goals were
scored by Adam McClure and Brett
Hunt, both in the third period.
Assists went to Josh Albrechtas,
Andrew McDonald and Matt
White.
The team found their feet against
Kitchener, battling hard through the
full game.
The squads played to a 1-1 tie
through three periods and had to go

On Saturday, the Brussels Tykes
went on the road to play two
games. The team took a bus to the
games which was a Christmas treat
from Wheeler Bus Lines for the
players.
In the first game the Tykes had to
face a strong Hensall squad who
had defeated Brussels earlier in the
year. -
Hensall got on the scoreboard in
the first two minutes of the game as
a long shot eluded goalie Ryan
Smith. This goal seemed to ignite
the Brussels squad as they put
pressure on Hensall.
Midway through the first period
Taylor Prior knocked in the
rebound of a Ben Gowing shot to
tie the game. In the final minute of
the first period Cody Subject
scored an unassisted goal to give
Brussels a 2 - I lead.

Zurich
The Blyth Novice B team scored
a victory over a visiting Zurich
squad on Dec. 11.
Zurich hit the scoreboard first
when Wayne Drake nailed one
mid-way through the first period.
Kendall Whitfield, with an assist
from Brittany Peters cancelled it
with less than a minute to go.
Tony Bean gave Blyth the lead in
the second period while Derek
Youngblut earned the assist.
Bean bulged the twine a second
time in the third period to give his
team some insurance. They held on
for the rest of the clock for a 3-1
win.
The team's next home game is
Saturday at 9:30 a.m. against Clin-
ton.

the puck past the sprawling goalie.

ner.
Kitchener scored four on four
attempts while Brussels' White and
Albrechtas were the only two able
to put it past the opposition's net-
minder.
Brussels got great goaltending
from Kyle Gibson and Jeff Elliott.
White, assisted by Darcey Cook,
scored Brussels' only goal during
regulation play.
