Blyth had - this game under control in the early goings with a seven- goal lead by the first few minutes of the second period. The two teams faced off in the annual Blyth Legion PeeWees tournament. Atom Reps lose 2, win 1 It could be a rough winter for snowmobilers in Seaforth and those hoping to stop by after their own town council agreed, at the Nov. 24 meeting, to ban the machines with- in town limits. The decision was a result of a petition from 34 property owners along William Street. They were protesting the proposed route for a new trail into the business district from the BW Trailblazers' (whose trails run north of Seaforth), Hen- sall Pineridge Snowmobile Club's Continued on page 11 It was two losses and a win for the Brussels Atom Reps team in recent WOAA hockey. Greg Bowers, with helpers from Josh Albrechtas and Andrew McDonald notched the only visit- ing marker while the Zurich team By Janice Becker Citizen staff The Blyth Bulldogs Tyke team travelled to Clinton on Friday, Dec. 4 for an exhibition game. The team played very aggressively pulling off a win with Blyth scoring 7 and Blyth goalie Sheldon Reid holding on for a shutout. Saturday morning had the team up and at 'em bright and early for another exhibition game in Brussels. The team showed how much they have improved by keeping the score tied 1-1 until four minutes left in the game. Brussels found the goalie tied up and stuck the puck in the net to put them ahead by one. Blyth kept up a strong offensive attack but victory On Dec. 4, the Saugeen Maitland Lightning PeeWees travelled to London for a game against the Devilettes PeeWee "AA" hockey team. It was back-and-forth action for most of the first period. The Lightning opened the scoring on a wrist shot by Heather Walker with three minutes left. London came back to tie on a power play goal to end the period. The Devilettes jumped out early in the second and then added another with 22 seconds remaining in the period. Brussels continued to buzz the Blyth goal but goaltender Greg Dodds made several outstanding saves to keep the score tied. With five minutes left in the game Cowing jumped on his own rebound to score and give Brussels the lead. Two minutes later Gowing completed his hat trick. Thomas Johnston collected an assist on the play. Pre-tyke Nick Gowing played well in his first game collecting an assist on his brother's first goal. The Tykes play two games on the road next Saturday as they travel to Hensall and Zurich. was not to be as the opposition scored once more to leave the score 3-1 for the home team. Coaches for the team are Todd MacDonald and Scott Stevenson. The tykes will play in their first tournament for the year on Friday, Dec. 11 in Elma Logan at 8 p.m. and brought the Lightning to within one when she walked in and scored as the buzzer sounded to end the period. Coaching staff noted that the team just couldn't seem to get going. On Dec. 4, the squad hosted Elma-Logan and despite solid play in the first two periods gave it away in the third allowing four goals that period. The final was 7-1. The news was better from Clin- ton on Dec. 5, when the team played to a 4-3 finish. Scoring for Brussels was Bowers, Adam McClure and Chris Corbett with two. Corbett and Darcey Cook earned assists. Coaches were pleased with this effort saying that everyone played three good periods of hockey.
