A Note from Betty
The excitement is mounting as we progress through this season -- even the
lack of snow doesn't seem to hinder the festive mood.
The town boys have the main street looking good and the store windows
will be tough to judge as the proprietors put their Christmas mood on
display. Remember that Bonnie and Donna will be doing the house judging
on Dec 14 so be sure to get the lights up and remember to turn them on.
Congratulations abound this past week as Const. Kathy MacMillan caught
her dream and left for her first policing job at Cat Lake which is near
Hudson Bay. Kathy is the daughter of Rev. Cam and Barb McMillan.
The guys from the band called Perish made their mark in Walkerton on
Friday-nine bands were in competition before a panel of judges and our
local band was number three.
Congratulations to Tim Mulvey; Rob McKercher and Joshua Gropp.
Wendy Martin was in town this past week and appeared to have a good
time catching up with the folk from The Ark, The 5 R's and her many other
friends. I hope Howard and Alice got a little of her time. The fold at the
apartment complex in Edmonton, AB sure are lucky to have Wendy.
Saturday's parade to welcome Santa to Brussels was terrific, lots of good
floats and fun people who took the time and made the effort to make it all
worthwhile. Even Santa knows. This is one of the few parades that Mrs.
Claus bothers to attend and she told me she had a good time.
To the business folk - thank you all very much from the kids of all ages.
Keep smiling and pass on only good moods.
Bye now,
Betty G.

Truck wash

By Bonnie Gropp
Citizen staff
New development in the village
of Brussels has caused concern
among some residents.
Clerk-Treasurer Donna White
told councillors at their Dec. 7
meeting that Jean McNeil had been
in the office to express concerns
she had about a truck wash, being
constructed by Brussels Livestock,
on the north side of G&M Auto
Parts on Turnberry Street.
White said she explained the pre-
cautions that had been taken. She
said the facility will be like a car
wash in that water will be used on a
pay for use basis.
With regards to another question,
White said there would be no
manure storage on site.
Neighbouring residents hadn't
