Brussels, Blyth PeeWees face off ports The Brussels PeeWees showed
up in Blyth Nov. 25, and defeated
their hosts 5-3.
Jonathon Engel put his team on
the board early in the first with help
from Tyler Campbell. Blyth's
Micah Loder, assisted by Trever
Koehler cancelled it, only to have
Sean Hoegy give Brussels the lead
in the dying seconds of the first
period. Rob McClure and Joel
Hemingway got the assists.
Robbie Semple scored the only
goal of the second period, putting
the visitors up by two.
The third period was a dog fight
with each team scoring two. Brus-
sels markers went to Patrick Rush-
ton and Stephenson with helpers to
Hemingway, Engel and Campbell.
Blyth goalscorers were Cole
Stewart, unassisted and Kirk Stew-
art, with an assist to Steve Van
Amersfoort.
Both Blyth and Brussels had
games Nov. 28 away. Blyth
downed Elma-Logan 3-1 with goals
scored by Tyler Kernaghan,
Koehler and C. Stewart. Assists
went to C. Stewart, T.J. Marks,
Mike Bean and Van Amersfoort.
Brussels was defeated by
Mitchell, 7-5. Scoring were Robbie
McClure, Hemingway with two,
Semple and Campbell.
Assists went to Devon Blake,
Stephenson, Brandon Blake, with
two, McClure, Evan Horst and
Hemingway.

Blyth's PeeWee Houseleague
team won one and lost one in
recent WOAA hockey action.
On Nov. 24 the squad tasted vic-
tory when they travelled to Elma-
Logan and downed their hosts 6-4.
It looked bad for Blyth in the
early going with Tyler Kernaghan
scoring the only first period goal
while the hosts tallied three. Cody
Anderson was credited with the
assist on Blyth's point.
The second period belonged to
the visitors, however, led by
Anderson's two points. Kyle Camp-
bell and Darren Austin each scored
singles. Elma-Logan managed just

On Nov. 26 the team hosted
Seaforth and came away with a
solid 5-1 win.
Tony Bean, Brittney Peters and
Kendall Whitfield put Blyth up to
an early lead with goals in the first
period. Assists went to Curtis
Robertson, Whitfield, Peters, Byron
Broome and Lee Watkins.
Derek Youngblut widened the
edge with a second period shot, but
Scott Somerville cancelled it to put
Seaforth on the board.
The Brussels Atoms Reps missed
a close one Nov. 28 when the squad
travelled to Bayfield.
Greg Bowers scored both visiting
goals in this 4-2 effort. His first
came from a nice pass by Andrew
McDonald in the second period.
one in the second to give Blyth a 5-
4 edge.
Assisting on the Anderson goals
were Nathan Witherspoon and
Mike Bean. The latter also assisted
on Campbell's goal, while Austin
was helped by Brett Bean and Tay-
lor Hesselwood.
After a tense third period Austin
notched some insurance in the
dying minutes with assists going to
Lee Prescott and Mike Bean.
Nov. 19 the team lost to Zurich
4-2.
Campbell and M. Bean scored
for Blyth, while Austin and B.
Bean got the assists.
Watkins, with an assist from
Whitfield got it back in the third to
end the scoring for the game.
On Nov. 28, the team white-
washed Zurich in a home game.
After a scoreless first Robertson
got things started with some help
from Whitfield.
Peters notched one in the third,
while Bean scored two. Whitfield
assisted on Peters while Katie
McClinchey was the helper on both
of Bean's markers.
_ Solid in net was Anthony Peters.
The team's next home game is
Saturday, Dec. 12 at 9:30 a.m.
In the third period, with the
goalie pulled and Bayfield a man
short, Bowers nailed the second
with help from Darcey Cook.
The game was end-to-end with
Jeff Elliott making some great
saves in net to keep his team in the
game.
Novices
win
The Blyth Novices enjoyed the
thrill of victory with a big win over
Hensall, Nov. 25 at home.
The offensive onslaught from
Blyth began in the second period
when Brittney Peters, assisted by
Kendall Whitfield and Krystopher
Campbell knocked one by the visit-
ing goalie. Four minutes later
Whitfield scored one of her own
with Campbell getting the credit for
the assist.
The third period had the local
team increasing their margin when
Peters, with help from Whitfield
scored her second of the game.
Blake Hesselwood blasted one
between the pipes three minutes
later.
I-lensall got on the board just
over a minute later, but it was can-
celled within seconds by an unas-
sisted goal scored by Richard
Gregg.
The final was 5-1 for Blyth.
