PAGE 24. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 1998.
Police chase in Blyth
Driving below the speed limit
caused problems for a Londesboro
man, Nov. 18. when police suspi-
cion was aroused.

cial 81 per cent in the two group-
ing.
The AMDSB however did
express,a concern for the score
when jut looking at the three and
four levels, six to nine points lower
than the provincial average. This
indicates there are fewer students
excelling beyond provincial stan-
dards.
The HPCDSB surpassed the
provincial three-four numbers by
two to six points though much of
the difference was in the higher
number of level three students.
Level four pupils were identical to
the averages in all but one catego-
ry.
Boards and individual schools
are currently reviewing the grades
to determine any changes to be
made. Results arc to be issued later
this month.
Comparisons with last year's
results cannot be made because a
different curriculum was in use.
The new test was administered
over five days at three hours per
day. The previous year, it had taken
the full day for 10 days. •
The tests were completed in May
by 1996-97 Grade 3 students.
The numbers used in this report
are from l-IPCDSB's report of
Method 2 figures which excluded
students who were exempt and stu-
dents for whom no data was col-
lected. It only includes those who
took the tests.
Parsons said the numbers she
used to determine provincial aver-
ages initially were taken from
newspaper reports as the AMDS_B-,
office did not received a copy of
provincial figure._
Boards stress that" figures should
not be us,v1 to rank or compare
schools and boards as -there are
many factors which affect achieve-
ment.
The results are used to identify
areas requiring attention for
vidual students and form an action
plan to allow them to move to the
next level.

A 1988 Chev, red four-door was
observed travelling very slowly on
Blyth's main street at 2:30 a.m.
according to an OPP report.
Concerned about numerous
break-ins recently, officers attempt-
ed to stop the vehicle.
When the vehicle failed to stop a
chase ensued, reaching speeds of
100 km/hr. through the village.
The driver abandoned the car in
