It was fun and good times for the 40 to 50 racers who
gathered near Walton on Sept. 5 to take part in the first
Supercross under the lights. Riders from beginners to
Pro-Ams raced heats during the afternoon, then took to
the tight-cornered, multi-jump track at the farm of Chris
and Judy again after dark. Organizer Chris Lee said this
was a trial run to work out any bugs with the lights and
may be back next year as a series of evening races.

A zoning bylaw amendment was
discussed by West Wawanosh
council, Sept. 1, for Part Lot 43, RP
302 in St. Helens.
The amendment would change
the zoning from D (development)
to VR1-3 (village residential low
density-status zones) for the 2.9
hectare property. The status zoning
recognizes the 15 metre frontage on
Mary Anne Street, thereby allow-
ing the south easterly lot line which
abuts Lot 42 to be deemed the front
lot line of the property.
As the lot includes part of St.
Helens Creek, it is subject to fill
and construction regulations of the
Maitland Valley Conservation
Authority.
An agreement has been reached
between the township and the prop-
erty owners regarding the upgrad-
ing of Mary Anne Street.
It is proposed that a single family
dwelling with accessory buildings
be constructed on the lot.
The amendment was approved.
Council agreed to sell gravel to
Wayne Todd from Johnston's pit at
the going rate less 25 per cent due
to the inferior quality of the gravel,
for the upgrading of Mary Anne
Street.
A quote for a new truck from
Suncoast Ford Sales Ltd. was
accepted by council provided the
$1,500 cash back is available.
Councillor Neil Rintoul had previ-
ously declared a pecuniary interest
on the issue. The old truck will be
sold to H.J.'s Used Cars and Truck
for $1,250.
Grant Thornton was appointed to
provide audit services for the town-
ship beginning with the year ending
December.
The fee for disposing of tires
under 20" at the landfill site will be
reduced to $2.
Road and general accounts were
approved for payment in the
amounts of $22,899.63 and
$95,005.61
