Brussels Mites were triumphant
in their challenge for the Tri-Coun-
ty Championship when they defeat-
ed Walton 11-3, Sept. 1.
The teams were even after one
with Cory Chapman scoring on a
single from Steven Ropp for Brus-
sels and Kyle McNichol tying it up
for Walton in the bottom half of the
inning.
Brussels broke out in the second,
scoring six. Kyle Gibson got on
base with a walk before Adam Cor-
bett's two RBI homer brought the
tally to three.
A walk to Amber Sellers, double
to Chapman and singles to Ropp
and Chris Corbett (RBI) put Brus-
sels up 7-1.
On Sept. 3 at approximately
3 p.m. a collision occurred at the
intersection of County Rds. 16 and
19 in Grey Twp.
According to police a 1988 Ford
Ranger pickup was northbound on
County Rd. 19 and stopped at the
intersection. Police say the pickup,
driven by Anthony Roden, 22, of
Brussels pulled out into the
intersection and was struck on the
driver's side by an eastbound 1989
Freightliner truck, driven by Brian
Housser, 36, of RR 3, Brussels.
The pickup ended up in the north
ditch while the tractor trailer unit
jackknifed and slid through the
intersection coming to rest on the
edge of the roadway.
Grey Twp. Fire Department
assisted at the scene. Both drivers
received non-life threatening
injuries and were transported to
Listowel Hospital by ambulance.

be a drop in numbers from last year
at many of the schools. Blyth is
down to 178 while East Wawanosh
looks to have dropped about 10 stu-
dents. Grey Central is also slightly
lower, down to 218 from a high of
225 to 230 last year.
Brussels enrolment may be up
slightly and Walton Public School
is starting the year at 90, near the
level of last year.
