GEORGE EDWARD CULL
At Ottawa, on Friday, July 24,
1998 Mr. George Edward Cull of
Belgrave, passed away in his 63rd
year.
He is survived by his beloved
wife Christine. He was the dear
father of Patrick, Thomas and
Andrew. His mother, Helen Cull of
St. Marys, sisters, Shirley of
Ottawa, Patricia of Brights Grove,
and brother John and Betty Lou of
Wilmot are also left to mourn his
passing. He is survived as well be
several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cull was predeceased by his
parents, Walter and Mae Cull.
George was a former director of
technical education at Central
Huron School, Clinton prior to his
retirement.
Friends were received at the
Beattie-Falconer Funeral Homes,
153 High St., Clinton, on Monday
from 7 - 9 p.m. and on Tuesday
from 2- 4 and 7- 9 p.m. A
Memorial Service will be held at
the Belgrave United Church,
Belgrave on Wednesday, July 29
(today) at 2 p.m. Cremation has
taken place.
As expressions of sympathy,
memorial donations to the Heart
and Stroke Foundation or the
Belgrave Kinsmen for the new
Community Park in Progresi,
would be greatly appreciated.

"TINKER" MCCOOL
Berthena McCool of Lot 27,
Conc. 8 in Hullett Twp passed at in
Clinton, Tuesday, July 21, 1998.
Born in Clinton, April 8, 1947,
she was the daughter of the late
James Cruikshank and Emma Mae
Sturgeon.
Employed as a nurse's aid, Mrs.
McCool was also a member of
Trinity Anglican Church.
Mourning her passing most
deeply are her husband Robert
McCool and children Rob and
Angela, both at home. Besides her
parents she was predeceased by a
sister Anita (Mrs. John) Denomme.
Friends were received at the
Beattie-Falconer Funeral Homes
Ltd. Wednesday, July 22 from 2-4'
p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral ser-
vice was held at 11 a.m. on Thurs-
day, July 23. Rev. Sandra Sinnicks
officiated.
Carrying floral tributes were
Shawna Dawson, Paul Dawson,
Alexandria Argyle, Christopher
Argyle and Meagan Buurs-Carter.
Pallbearers were Frank Argyle,
Chris Buurs, Dan McCool, Dennis
Florian, Mark Wolfe and Arnold
Dawson.
Interment was at Bayfield Ceme-
tery.

HOWARD ARMSTRONG
SMITH
Mr. Howard Armstrong Smith of
Brussels passed away at Wingham
and District Hospital on Saturday,
July 18, 1998.He was in his 82nd
year.
Born in Morris Twp. on July 26,
1916, Mr. Smith was the son of the
late William and Mary Smith and
the beloved husband of the late
Mildred Ferne McCallum, who
predeceased him in March 1994.
He will be sadly missed by his
children John Smith of Brussels,
Nancy Warwick and her husband
Jim of Exeter, Sandra Gackstetter
and her husband Henry of RR 1,
Exeter, Joyce McGregor and her
husband Larry of Lucan, Norma
Cooper of Brussels and Mary
Dilworth and her husband Roger of
Brussels. Mr. Smith will also be
remembered by his nine
grandchildren, Lorraine, Diane,
Melanie, Michael, Carrie, Krissy,
Lee, Steven and Ronnie. Also
loved by his great-grandchild Jake.
He was predeceased by his three
brothers.
Friends were received by the
family Sunday evening at the
Schimanski Family Funeral Home,
Brussels where the private funeral
service was conducted on Monday,
July 20 with Rev. Nancy Beale of
St. John's Anglican Church,
Brussels officiating. A eulogy
paying tribute to the life of Howard
was given by his son-in-law Roger
Dilworth.
Pallbearers were son-in-laws Jim
Warwick, Henry Gackstetter, Larry
McGregor and Roger Dilworth,
granddaughter Lorraine Warwick
and Kim Miller. Flowerbearers
were granddaughters Krissy
Dilworth and Carrie McGregor.
Interment was in Brussels
Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made
to the Alzheimer Society or to the
charity of one's choice.

Memorial 4-H News Report
Competition is open to all 4-H
members in Ontario. This
competition fosters the
development of writing and news
reporting skills in 4-H members.
The competition honours the
memory of Amber Underwood,
past editor of The Enthusiast
Magazine. She believed in
developing strong communication
and writing skills. Upon her
untimely death, her family
established a memorial fund to
recognize and honour 4-H Members
who foster her belief and wish to
develop their writing skills.
There are two categories: Junior
(10 - 14 before Jan. 1, 1998) and
Senior (15 - 21 before Jan. 1,
1998). The competition entails
writing a 500-word entry that is a
report on a 4-H program, event or
success story, or is a review of a

A former resident of Auburn,
Scott was the beloved husband of
the late Mildred Aitcheson. He was
the dear father of Keith and Nancy
Scott of London, Wayne and Marie
Scott of Colborne Twp. and Eric
Scott of Goderich and proud
grandfather of 13 grandchildren.
He was the brother of Mildred
Scott of Goderich and Grace Scott
of Kitchener.
Mr. Scott was predeceased by his
parents, as well as his sisters,
Isabelle Gardner and Jean Ziler.
The family received friends at the
McCallum and Palla Funeral
Home, Goderich on Tuesday from
2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service

community issue or an interview
with a community leader.
Entries must be typewritten and
double spaced.
All submissions must include 4-
H member's name, address and
telephone and date of birth on the
back of the entry.
Entries will be critiqued on
content (50 points), writing (45
points) and presentation (five
points). Winners in each category
will receive a $100 cash award.
