Speaker's memories bittersweet
want to thank our parents for their
help and support, and also all the
teachers who have worked to guide
us over the years. I know Mrs.
Hulley will miss us and we will try
to visit her and go to her birthday
party!
Ladies and gentlemen I'd like to
present to you the graduating class
of '98!

memories were sad, some funny,
and some embarrassing.
Remember our bus breaking down
while we were on the 401 during our
class trip. It sure made a long but
fun day. I have a lot of good
memories and hope you do too!
We also have a very sad memory.
We will always remember Tyler
Wilson, the time we spent together
playing basketball and other sports.
We all lost a part of ourselves when
we lost Tyler. He gave us memories
that we would not have had without
him. I like to think he is here tonight
sharing our fun and graduating with
us.
I would now like to congratulate
my fellow classmates here tonight. I

Students reach special milestone with graduation
By Jill Speiran
I would like to welcome friends,
family, teachers and fellow
graduates here tonight.
This marks a very important
milestone for each graduate here.
The first phase of our education has
been completed. What our future
holds, we do not know. We all have
goals and dreams that will change
as time passes.
It seems like
only yesterday
that each of one
of us was a shy
little five-year-
old clutching our
brand new lunch
boxes and
waiting at the
road to board the
big yellow bus
that would take
us to our first
day at Grey Central.
A lot of things have happened
since that September morning.
There have been friendships and
fights, laughter and tears, interesting
projects and boring lectures, but
through it all we have survived.
Although this is a very happy
occasion there is something sad
about it too. This will be the last
time that we are all together here at
Grey.
There are many people who have
helped us get this far and who have
contributed to our education. First,
our parents, because without you,
we would not be here. You have
given us love, and encouragement,
scolded us and supported us when
we needed it.
Secondly, the principals and
teachers of Grey Central. Over the
past nine years, you have guided us
with your exceptional knowledge to
mold us into the young adults we
are today. To all of you we say
Thank You!
Kindergarten is very similar to
Grade 8. Remember how excited we
were when we graduated out of
kindergarten? We all dressed up in
our prettiest outfits to receive our
diplomas. And that is what we are
doing here tonight.
In kindergarten unknowingly to
us, we were actually learning.
Playing in the sandbox was really
geography for we liked using our
fingers to draw lines and roads in
the sand. Story time was novel
reading even though we couldn't
read. Playing at the water centre
was science just modified a little
bit. Building houses with blocks
was our first step to learning how to
count, the subject math.
Fingerpainting is now those
wonder sketches found proudly
hanging in the hall.
Nap time is French class for us
today. We all can be caught napping
during this lesson.
Three things have stayed the same
throughout all nine years and
without a doubt, each of us truly
enjoyed them the. most, SNACK,
LUNCH and RECESS!
I would like to thank my fellow
classmates for giving me the honour
of being your valedictorian. This is
a memory I'll always cherish, as I'm
sure each of you have memories at
Grey you will treasure.
To the graduates, I wish you
continued success in all that you
attempt. May we always be proud
of each other no matter where our
lives lead us.
I know that each one of us
hasdifferent goals and ambitions.
Let's live each day to its fullest and
may our dreams come true. Best
wishes and good luck in the future.
Congratulations graduates. We
are the class of '98!
