Doug and Marj Fraser just
returned from a two-week visit to
good friend Ruby Bergstrom Knorr
and family at Meeting Creek, AB.
Doug had spent time there working
the harvest 53 years ago.
Doug said that one of Ruby's
neighbours is a cattle buyer and he
took Doug to the Ponoka cattle sale
where 2,800 cattle from
Saskatchewan were sold because of
the dry weather and no pasture. The
farmers in the province have no hay
as they are using their hay fields for
pasture.
Ruby's daughter, Judy drove
them to Jasper where they saw lots
of mountains sheep and a young
black bear cub.
While in the area Doug contacted
an old school friend, George Hart.
He and Doug attended the Button
School 55 years ago.
Doug and Marj were invited out
for coffee many times and renewed
many old acquaintances and had a
wonderful holiday.

then the Sunday School students
and teachers were called to the
front for attendance certificates and
seals.
Following this they went outside
for games and later, ice cream
Sundays were enjoyed.
Communion was served by
Lavern and Marion Godkin and
Elva and Ian Wilbee, The choir
sang a new version of The Lord's
Prayer.
Rev. James Murray's sermon was
called "Pigs can't swim."
Morris
gathers
public info
In re-affirming their position to
county council regarding the with-
drawal of the proposal for the sale
of the Morris Twp. landfill site,
council continues to gather infor-
mation for a future public meeting.
Prior to the initial public session
hosted April 2, Morris council
withdrew the proposal, pending
input from residents.
In response to requests, the town-
ship is in the process of gathering
information from the Miz,itry of
Environment and other sources to
answer questions about possible
pollution, environmental suitabili-
ty, compensation and the planning
process.
The next public meeting has not
yet been scheduled.
This weekend the couple are
attending their grandson Garret
Mader's christening at Cambridge
Lutheran Church.
