Slow and steady
Vickie Blake concentrates as she maneuvers her bike
through an obstacle course as part of the bike rodeo held
at Grey Central Public School, June 12. The first year to
be held at rural schools, the rodeo was suggested by the
community policing organization (COP) and run by Senior
Constable Don Shropshall of the OPP. Parent Darlene
Schnock volunteered her assistance.
Watching the turn
Walton Public School kindergarten student Brandon
McGavin practised his turn signals during a bike rodeo
held at the school, June 11. Parent Sharlene McClure
keeps watch.

On Wednesday, June 3 Blyth's
Grade 6, 7, 8s went to the Air Expo
Career Fair at Huron Park. All the
classes had the opportunity to see
the Sky Hawks and the Snow Birds
perform.
They also had a chance to receive
autographs from the Sky Hawks,
but they were unable to obtain
autographs from the Snow Birds
because it was getting too close to
the departure time.
There were a variety of different
planes that the students could
venture inside. Inside a large arena
there were several booths featuring
a variety of colleges, organizations
and possible career opportunities
that the students could visit.
The Grade 7/8s have been
working on a planets' project on the
new Ministry approved Hyper
Studio computer program.
They are also working on school
fair projects.
Next Friday some of the Grade
8s are going to CHSS for
orientation. The rest of the class is
going to the Blyth Creek to do
some serious cleaning. This day is
organized by the Optimists.
The Grade 7/8 class has been
doing this for about five years and
this year they have found that there
were more trout hatchlings. The
Optimists prepare hotdogs for the
participants.
AIR BANDS
By Katelyn Linner
On Friday, June 5, the Students'
Council organized an air band
show. Some of the groups included
the Spice Girls' Slop sung by Sonya
Schultz (Ginger), Jamie Lewis
(Sporty), Jackie Falconer (Baby),
Melissa Black (Posh) and Charlene
Bromley (Scary).
Jenny Ritchie, Kristen Oster,
Mandy Mason, and Rachel de Boer
were the All Saints and sang the
song Party.
N'SYNC was the group chosen
by Jeff Elliott, Darcey Cook, Orie
Falconer, and Josh Albrechtas.
They sang the song I Want You
Back.
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
from the show The Wizard of Oz
was sung by Jackie Falconer.
There was a mystery ban& who
turned out to be the staff, who sang
YMCA. They represented the
Village People.
All of the students and staff
would like to thank the Students'
Council for organizing a really fun
time and the bands who performed
so excellently.

The Grade 4/5 students went on a
"digital field trip" to study a bog on
Cloud Lake in Algonquin Park!
They were able to do this using the
CD entitled "The Wetlands".
Along the trip they filled out bog
journals.
For a snack they enjoyed gummie
frogs and bog juice, which
contained artificial frozen insects.
They had a great time!
Everyone has chosen a book
which they will write about and
complete a book report.
They have been working busily
with Hyperstudio and are creating a
presentation about themselves on
the computer.

Blyth students attend Fair
Special
ceremony
at E. Wawanosh
On Thursday, June 11, the grand
opening ceremonies for the recently
installed playground equipment
were held at East Wawanosh Public
School. When much of the existing
equipment was declared to be
unsafe almost two years ago, the
School Advisory Council took on
the immense task of purchasing up-
to-date equipment. Most recently a
fund-raising auction sale was held.
