their own business.

A chance remark by one to the
other regarding the idea of opening
a store, soon snowballed. "One of
us made a suggestion, inquiries
were made and it just kept rolling,"
says Gary.
A lifelong resident of Brussels,
Gary, a mechanic, liked the idea of
locating his business there. He and
Bill, who has nine year's experi-
ence in auto parts sales, looked at

For patrons of Mama Root's
restaurant, soon to be opened on
County Rd. 25 just east of Blyth,
the experience will be more like
visiting friends than eating out.
That is the philosophy of Sandy
Root, owner of Mama Root's, as
she prepares to welcome clients to
her completely renovated and reju-
venated establishment.
"You will be guests in my
home," she says, "not just patrons.
Root returns to Blyth after sever-
al years absence during which time
she ran a small eatery in Woodslee,
in the southern tip of the province.
"We lived here for many years
and many of our children are still in
the area," she says.
With her husband planning to
retire in two years from his Wind-
sor-area job, Root says they decid-
ed she should return to Blyth now
to get the business going.
That project began when she took
decision to build. Their new facili-
ty, constructed by local contractors,
has a bright display area, large stor-
age space and well-equipped office.
"We wanted to start fresh to get
the type of place we felt would suit
our needs," says Bill.
"And in the long-run, we hope
our location will be handy for our
customers," says Gary.
While the business will continue
