California Cuties
set to play Tigers Entertainment

Fifi the Flirt will be winding up
for 100 mile per hour pitches
when the California Cuties
five-man squad comes to
Brussels to take on the Tigers,
June 16, in a contest which
will entertain the whole family.
It will be an evening filled with
hoots, hollers and laughter inter-
mixed with spectacular catches,
homerun smashes and 100 mile per
hour pitches.
Brussels Minor Ball is sponsor-
ing a matchup between the Brussels
Tigers and the California Cuties, a
five-man, dress-wear group of
exceptional ball players who will
take on the regular nine-player
opponent, Tuesday, June 16, at
Brussels Optimist Park.
Begun by Trino Palicios (also
known as Madam Hilda) more than
50 years ago, the comedian and his
team take to the field with only a
backcatcher, first base player short-
stop, pitcher and a lot of humour.
Pitcher Fifi the Flirt smokes them
by the batters then smashes 100
homcruns per season to balance
"her" slats.
With Hefty Helen on first and
Main Street Sally at short., the two
cover the entire infield and outfield
with great speed and strong throw-
ing arms.
Though presenting themselves
hilariously in dresses, the ball play-
ers are outstanding college and pro-
fessional athletes.
While they battle the Tigers,
Madam Hilda struts the sidelines
with comedic chatter.
And as the team slogan goes,
"Those who watch the Cuties play,
live to laugh another day."
After 50 years, this could be the
final tour for the California Cuties
so Brussels Minor Ball invites the
entire family out to enjoy a fun-
filled evening.
Tickets for the 7:30 performance
are $4 for adults and $2 for chil-
dren six-14.

Once more a group of talented
and generous interior designers and
decorators have joined together to
create Stratford Designer Showcase
Home '98 to benefit The Lung
Association, Huron-Perth Counties.
The Showcase Home, located at 57
Shrewsbury St., Stratford, will be
open June 6 - 21 from 12:30 to
7:30 p.m. daily. Admission is just
$8, ($6. for seniors) with all
proceeds going to support the
asthma education programs of The
Lung Association, Huron-Perth
Counties.
The home, built in the Queen
Anne style in 1893, is located in
one of Stratford's oldest and
prettiest neighbourhoods. It
features elegant principal rooms, an
inviting enclosed verandah and a
spa room addition complete with
lap pool and whirlpool on the main
floor. A focal point of the dining
room is the table beautifully set
with china and stemware courtesy
of Royal Doulton and flatware by
Heritage Silversmith Inc.
The second floor includes three
bedrooms — a master bedroom, a
child's bedroom and a sumptuous
guest room, a home office and a
lady's hobby room.
A wrought iron arch and bench
enhance the front yard, while a
variety of plantings and wrought
iron furniture create a wonderful
look on the side deck and in the
garden.
Visitors to the home will be
treated to examples of the
designers' wonderful creative flair
and will take home a wealth of
decorating ideas. "Designer
