smooth passage of a development
plan for south Blyth, Bill Howson
of Howson and Howson Ltd,

begin construction on a truck wash
facility on Plan 171, Park Lot 17
and Plan 170, Park Lot 7 following
approval of a severance application
soon to go before the county plan-
ning and development committee.
However, concerns have arisen
regarding the availability of ade-

Aments mark anniversary
Mildred and Stewart Ament of
Blyth were the guests of honour at
an open house at Blyth Memorial
Hall, Sunday afternoon. The occa-
sion was the couple's 50th wedding
anniversary.
The Hall was romantically lit,
thanks to the forces of nature, after
Saturday's storm, resulted in a 13-
hour power outage in Blyth and
area.
Friends attended the celebration
from Burlington, Stratford,
Mitchell, Goderich, Seaforth, Clin-
ton, Listowel, Milverton, Wing-
ham, Bclgrave, Hespeler and the
community.
It was June 5, 1948, when the
former .Mildred Carter wed her
groom at her parents' Westfield
home. Rev. Hewitt officiated. The
couple was attended by the bride's
cousin Frances (Hollyman),
McClinchey, and the groom's
brother, the late Howard Ament.
Following a honeymoon trip to
Detroit, the Aments farmed al the
13th of Hullett Twp. Stewart was
also employed at Howson & How-
son Mill, while Mildred drove
school bus for eight years to Clin-
ton.
They raised two children, Garry
of Stratford and Shirley East of
Clinton. They now have three
grandson, Stewart, Bill and Kevin
East.
The Aments retired in 1980 and
moved to Blyth. Active in the com-
munity they are members of the
United Church. Mildred belongs to
the Blyth Legion Ladies Auxiliary
and the Order of the Eastern Star,
while Stewart is a member of the
Lions Club and the Legion.

village.
With the support of Blyth council
to pay the $200 registration fee, the
village will be entered in the Com-
munities in Bloom contest which
fosters environmental responsibility
and civic pride while competing
against municipalities of like size.
As this will be the first year of
participation, Blyth will be judged
on a provincial level, in the areas of
municipal, private, corporate and

The entry will be judged with
regards- to landscaped areas, turf
