The new partnership of the eight hospitals of Huron Perth had a successful first meeting May 13 in Stratford. Each hospital provided the names of its three representatives who will be sitting as members of the partnership. These members will be serving on the partnership board for a term of either three, two or one year. They are:Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, Goderich, Ellen Connelly, Dave Gower, Rick Palla; Clinton Public Hospital, Dr, Maarten Bokhout, Peggy Menzies, Richard Snell; Listowel Memorial Hospital, Kerry Blagrave, David Hicks, Dr. Barry Neable; St. Marys Memorial Hospital, Bryan Bettger, Rick Horst, Henry de Young; Seaforth Community Hospital, Michael Hak, Robert Norris, Alf Ross; South Huron Hospital, Doug Hoover, Clay Murray, Verla Russell; Stratford General Hospital, Anne Lake, John Lichti, Dave Rae; Wingham and District Hospital, Murray Hunter, Robert Pike, George Underwood. The election of the officers was held. Chair is Kerry Blagrave; vice- chair is Anne Lake and treasurer is Brian Bettger. The partnership formed a search committee to develop and recommend the process for the establishment of a single administration for all eight hospitals. It is expected this committee will report back by mid- June. An update on th€ progress of the system-wide changes to the Nutrition and Food services that are being implemented in all eight hospitals was given. In response to some concern about incorrect information that had been released about the potential savings that could be achieved by the partnership, it was clarified that the net savings would reflect the data contained in the April 1997 District Health Council Report. That report said that Administration and Program Support efficiencies could total $3.4 million from the 1995/96 expenditure level. The area, Colborne Twp., Con. 7, Part Lot 17, is in a floodplain and could affect septic systems and water quality. There were no objections with regards to a severance application for Conc. 1, Lot 18, pending appro- priate rezoning. Additional connections to Storey Drain were approved by council. M. Dietz Ltd, Conc. 6, Lot 4, with 1.5 hectares, and Burns Acres Ltd, with 2.5 hectares, will be allowed to make the connection. R.J. Burn- side and Associates will prepare the report. The resignation of Lisa Winger as office support staff was accepted by council.
