GRAVEL TENDERS
Sealed, clearly marked tenders are now being
received for the purpose of crushing, hauling
and spreading of approximately 35,500 metric
tonnes more or less of 5/8" granular "A"
gravel for the roads In the north half of the
Township of Grey. Work to be completed by June 19, 1998 to
the satisfaction of the Township Road Superintendent. The
contractor to be responsible for any rules or regulations which
may be applicable under the Aggregate Resources Act. Contract
or must supply 2,000 metric tonnes per day. Apply to the
undersigned for contract forms. Tenders must be accompanied
by a certified cheque for 10% of the enclosed bid and will be
received by the undersigned until 4:00 p.m., Monday, April 6,
1998.

The March meeting of
Londesboro Cheerio Club was held
on Thursday, March 19. After
lunch at the Hillcrest Restaurant
they proceeded to the home of
Geraldine Dale.
Roll call was answered by six
members. Minutes of the February
meeting were read. Collection was
taken up.
The draw, donated by Geraldine,
was won by Audrey Thompson.
Audrey read the piece "The Three
Trees."

terian Church, Cranbrook met at
the home of Mrs. Harvey Smith to
hold the World Day of Prayer
Service.
The program for the day was
written by the Christian Women of
Madagascar. Local ladies taking
part in presenting the service were
Mrs. Jack Knight, Mrs. Leslie
Knight, Mrs. Stuart Stevenson,
Mrs. Joe Smith, Mrs. Stewart
Stciss, Mrs. Harvey Smith and Mrs.
Murray Crawford.
Along with the excellent
prayerful service they learned
something about the island of
Madagascar. Christianity has taken
hold in the last century. Most of the
faithful are Roman Catholic — 43
per cent.
At least half of the population are
animist (a belief there are living
Dorothy Dilworth hosted eight
tables of euchre at the Ethel Hall.
Winners were: 50/50, Margaret
Crowe; high lady, Helen Cullen;
high man, Walter Harrifield; most
lone hands, Shirley Verstoep,
Verna Crawford and Jim Smith;

Doug Hemingway; tally card, Ger-

Greeters at Londesboro United
Church on Sunday, March 22 were
Jack and Helen Lee. Ushers were
Bert Lyon and Bob Trick.
The senior choir sang. The
subject was the mission and service
work of the United Church.
Sacrament of Baptism is next
Sunday.
The senior choir practice will be
each Sunday at 10:15 a.m. until
Easter.

This island is the fourth largest

which is processed and exported in
the form of starch and tapioca.
Sweet potatoes, coffee, cloves,
pepper and vanilla are grown for
export.
Tourism is being expanded by
the government, as the land has
natural splendour.
A short business meeting was
held. Lunch was provided by the
hostess and assisted by Mrs.
Crawford.
