Brussels PS news
Kindergartens make mailbox for teacher

The kindergartens are making a
mail box for Mrs. Hall to put work
in. To ]cam more about mail boxes
and post offices they are going to
the Brussels Post Office. For
Valentine's day they made
shoestring hearts for special people.
Grade I is working hard dividing
shapes into lines of symmetry.
They also made secret Valentines
for someone special.
Grade 2 made special Valentines
and are enjoying story time.
The Grade 3s made Valentines
for their parents. They are also
working on Inuit projects. They
have been making paintings of
animals from the North. Later on
in the week they will have a test on
everything that they have learned.
In math they have been learning to
regroup hundreds.
In Grade 4 they are working on
gymnastics. They did Valentines
in French and English and made
holders to go with them. In math
they are doing work on Olympics
called Math Attack.

BASKETBALL
The 3 on 3 basketball intramurals
are almost underway with almost
15 teams participating. The top
two teams of both genders will
complete for the championship and
participate at Wingham high
school.
The only competitor from Grey
Central who remains in the
tournament is Luke Steinmann. He
will be shooting hoops at St. Mary's
High School in Clinton on March
7.
SKIING
Skiing is a go! The participation
level is 90 per cent. The Grade 5,
6, 7 and 8 classes will be visiting
Talisman Ski Resort as an

Canadiatl Studies project on
explorers in Canada. In French they
are working on comic strips. In
math they are working on
circumference, average and
diameter.
The 6/7 class is working on
Olympic work sheets comparing
Canada and Japan in area and
population. They are working on
area and perimeter in math. They
made Valentine cards for their
reading buddies.
The 7/8 class is doing a Canadian
Studies project on Goderich. In
math they have been working in
math centres about probability and
statistics. Just like the rest of the
school they are doing gymnastics.
The rest of the week the class has
extension to their Phys Ed program
on Feb. 25. Parents are also invited
to hit the slopes with their children
as part of a recreational outing.
VALENTINE'S DAY
It was Valentine's Day at Grey
Central and the children got into
the festivities! The Grade 5, 6, 7
and 8 had a Valentine's Day dance
and the primary grades participated
in festive games.
The older grades enjoyed the
heart game, a contest to see what
been working on poetry projects. In
French they have been writing
letters to two exchange students
from France.
In band Mrs. Regier is teaching
them how to play Mr. Sandman and
Distance.
Courtney S allows and Lee
Dilwoth won the free throw contest
at the school and went on to St.
Anne's in Clinton. At St. Anne's
Lee came in first with 20 shots out
of 25 and Courtney came in first
with 19 shots out of "25. We wish
them both luck as they compete
again on March 7.
Grades 4-8 have been writing
speeches. Friday Feb. 13 was a
busy day. The magazine sales end
and all grades went skating. It was
also red and white day in honour of
Valentine's Day.

POETRY FESTIVAL
Grey Central School will be
participating in the Orillia
International Poetry Festival. This
festival gives the top three articles
prizes for the three categories.
