Wedding Showcase '98
Lasting images made by professional photographer
When the friends and relatives
have gone, and the decorations are
all put away, all that remains of
your wedding day are the memor-
ies, and the photographs.
To ensure your wedding memor-
ies become treasured family
heirlooms, it's best to engage the
service of a qualified, professional
wedding photographer. Some wed-
ding couples will choose to have a
"friend" with a "good" camera
"take" their wedding pictures. Then
they are disappointed with the
amateurish results; out of focus,
poor composition, red eye,
wrinkled dresses, poor colour, and
so on.
Hire a professional wedding
photographer. Professional wed-
ding photographers proudly display
their memberships in professional
photographer associations at the
provincial level (Professional
Photographers of Ontario), the
national level, (Professional Photo-
graphers of Canada), and at the
international level, (Professional
Photographers of America, and
Wedding and Portrait Photo-
graphers International). Check if
your wedding photographer is a
member.
Professional wedding photo-
graphers create special images for
your wedding memories, using
high quality, medium format
cameras, and lenses, and the latest
in specifically formulated
professional films. 35 mm cameras
are not a professional wedding
format.
Professional wedding photo-
graphers are capable of producing a
wide variety of images for the bride
and groom. They pay attention to
the details to produce the best
images of your special day. As
well, professional photographers
through their memberships in
professional associations,
continually upgrade their skills,
knowledge and creative vision by
attending seminars, workshops, and
conventions' as part of their
ongoing commitment to
photographic excellent.
Here are some items to consider
when discussing your wedding
photography requirements with a
professional photographer during
your complimentary consultation.
Ask to see samples of the work
produced by the photographer who
will be working with you on your
wedding day. Ask to see large
prints. When you see the style and
quality you like, that 'is the
photographer to select.
Ask questions to ensure that you
will get the type of photography
coverage you require. Clarify what
you will get for their fees. Check
about reorders and add on extras
like albums and wall portraits.
Ask about your photographer's
professional qualifications and
awards.
Make sure your photographer
uses a written contract.
For the wedding-party, dresses
are short, flirty, splashed with
playful prints or saturated in candy
colours (shoes are dyed to match).
Separates also swing into the
season, states Bride's magazine,
with romantic sheer blouses atop
ballerina-length skirts.
Best-dressed buys:
• Fabrics — organza, cotton,
LycraTM, taffeta, re-embroidered
or stretch lace, tulle, chiffon,
ottoman, faille, linen.
• Prints — polka dots, gingham,
stripes, plaid, exotic flowers.
• Separates — LycraTm or organza
blouse with a sweeping skirt of
taffeta or cotton with a self-sash
or belt.
• Short dresses made in chiffon-
like fabrics (in yellow, pink,
lavender, mint, pale blue) that
float down the aisle.
• Open backs with crisscross

While recently married friends
are a source to recommend
potential photographers; you
should decide based on what you
like. And, in this market area, it's
important that you book the church,
minister, and reception hall at least
one year in advance, to secure your
best-choice. It's also important to
book your professional
photographer a year or more in
advance as well, to avoid
disappointment.
Finally, take advantage of the

House numbers and zip codes

• It's a good idea to have the
printer print the return address on
the outer envelope to ensure that
any undeliverable invitations are
returned.
• Invitations should be mailed
four weeks in advance.

Use their experiences with

PPOC logos, your assurance of a
dedicated professional wedding
photographer.
The mood of the '90s, especially
when it comes to weddings, is a
yearning for the elegance and
ceremony of an earlier time.
Here are some guidelines for
addressing wedding invitations:
• When addressing the inner
envelope, exclude the adults' last
names and addresses. Intimate
relatives may be addressed as
"Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle John."
Below the parents' names, include
the first names of all children to
be invited.
• When addressing the outer
envelope, always use a guest's tull
name and formal title. Use
abbreviations only for Mr., Mrs.,
