The little dittie talents of Josie MacDonald, a Blyth Public
School student, won her a walkman, as she was one of
25 children across the province to capture honours in the
"Create a Reading Song Contest", sponsored by Troll
Books. Josie wrote a song about reading to the Alanis
Morissette song You Learn.

cph About Your
Hospital
Two new pieces of equipment have been delivered to Clinton
Public Hospital. The Hospital Auxiliary donated a portion of
their funds raised to purchase a new "Biliblanket". This is a
newer, less Invasive method of reducing bilirubin levels In
babies with newborn Jaundice, a common condition in the
newborn group. A new Incubator was also seen as a necessity
in improving newborn care and was purchased through
donations made to the CPH Foundation. Beth Miller, born Jan.

Citizen staff
With the future responsibilities
for municipal services still in ques-
tion, Chief Building Official Paul
Josling met with Blyth council,
Feb. 2, to seek direction regarding
an on-site sewage inspection
course.
Josling asked council if there was
a belief the task of sewage inspec-
tions would eventually become the
responsibility of building officials
as services were downloaded and
changes occurred because of
restructuring. Reeve Mason Bailey
said there has already been some
talk that larger municipalities such
as Clinton and Goderich are con-
sidering doing their own inspec-
tions instead of leaving the job to
county workers.
Clerk-Treasurer John Stewart
Said he believed the county could
pass the inspections to municipali-
ties if there were no longer enough
using their service to warrant staff
and costs.
With that possibility in mind,
Josling asked council if they
wished him to enroll in a five-day
training course to be held in Water-
loo near the end of March.
At this time the course is offered
free by the Ministry of Housing,
but after March 31, there will be a
fee charged to the municipality.
Though Josling said he did not
want to do the job, if it comes
down to the building inspectors he
said he would do the work.
Huron County is only one of two
in the province where on-site
sewage inspections are not done by
the building official, he added.
Council agreed Josling should
take advantage of the free course,
with the five municipalities who
share his services, covering costs.
Car burns
A vehicle owned by Jamie Riley
of Seaforth caught fire at approxi-
mately 11:30 a.m., Saturday, at
Howson's feedlot just east of Blyth,
said Blyth Fire Chief Paul Josling.
There were no injuries, but the
vehicle was completely destroyed.
