The Citizen, 1999-12-22, Page 44PAGE 44. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 22, 1999. Group agrees on Huron East It anticipated approvals are granted to an area restructuring proposal, area residents will be living in Huron East on Jan. I, 2001. That’s the date a restructuring plan would come into effect for Seaforth. Brussel^ and the Twps. of McKillop, Tuckersmith and Grey. Seaforth Administrator Jack McLachlan said Huron East and East Huron were the two most popular. The restructuring committee looked at those and chose Huron East with some discussion about the name needing to start with Huron to more easily identify the Corrie's & 23 Huron St., Clinton The restructuring committee, consisting of council members and staff from each of those municipalities, voted to accept that name at a meeting last Thursday, after going over the results of a name poll conducted at a recent public meeting in Seaforth. The municipalities involved in the restructuring held a contest to generate names from the public for the new community. The committee narrowed that list of submissions down to one with 12 names including SeabreyMcTuck, Tanglewood, Huronville and Huron Tract. At last month's restructuring meeting to give an overview of how the new municipality would look, the public was invited to give their preferences to three of the area. The proposal has been endorsed by all the municipal councils and has already been forwarded to Huron County and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs. Approval has to be received from all three levels for the restructuring plan to be implemented. McLachlan expects an answer from Huron County in January but said they don’t know when they will hear from the province. He told Seaforth council last week there were some minor questions or concerns with the proposal after both levels of government gave it an initial look but does not anticipate any serious concerns with how the plan has been put together. The original municipalities will exist as wards under the new rV names. structure.
