Students make holiday crafts
THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 22, 1999. PAGE 43.
By Christopher Jutzi
and Chase Chapman
The kindergarten class has been
making bells to put on the
Christmas tree in the gym. They
were also making Santa Claus faces
to decorate their classroom.
In the Grade 1 classroom they are
colouring pictures to make a
Christmas book and they were
making reindeer. For the Christmas
concert they sang / saw Mommy
Kissing Santa Claus and Rudolph
the Red Nosed Reindeer. They were
putting lights on the Christmas tree.
In the Grade 2 classroom they are
making murals for their classroom.
They are making Santa Claus maps
too. They have been decorating
their classroom for the contest
too.The Grade 2s also participated
in the concert.
In the Grade 3 classroom they are
decorating their classroom for the
room decorating contest. They
went to a pioneer school in
Stratford on Dec. 8. They did a
play for the concert, singing, I'm
Getting Nothing for Christmas.
They are also working on
Christmas in French.
The Grade 4 class was making
tree mobiles for art. They made
reindeer to decorate their
classroom. Two extremely smart
girls came from Arizona and their
names were Haily and Riley. Haily
was in Grade 3 and beat all the
Grade 4s in math. They were
showing their Habitats and
Community projects.
The Grade 5 class has been
working on ant projects for French.
They too have been busy
decorating their room. They are
making 3-D shapes to put on the
Christmas tree in the gym. They
have been doing government
scrapbooks. They are starting a new
unit on the world government.
The Grade 6/7 class has been
jazzing up their room as well. They
made mobiles for art class. They
painted the windows of the bank in
town and had a good time doing
that. Their French project consisted
of French menus. They have also
done some role playing for their
second step program.
The Grade 7/8 class made French
newspapers. They started a math
unit on geometry, and made art
portfolios. They went to Tech 21
class in Listowel on Dec. 7.
We would like to wish everyone
in the community a very Merry
Christmas and Safe and Happy
New Year and we will fill you ah
in about the holidays when we get
back to school in January.
Biodegradable
decorations good
for outdoors
Avoid purchasing decorations
such as tinsel that are used only
once and are not biodegradable.
Instead, have a party to prepare
popcorn and cranberry strands,
dried apple wreaths and crab apples
tied with ribbon. These can be put
outside with the tree to provide our
feathered friends with their own
feast.

Once upon a time there was a
family named the Cardmales. There
were two boys named Tom and
Timmy. There were also two girls
named Mary and Lucy.
It was the day before Christmas
and the Cardinales were going into
town to buy presents but they had
no money. Everything they looked
at was too expensive and they were
