of Worship at Knox United Church
on Sunday, Dec. I2. Melissa
Whitmore welcomed the
congregation on the third Sunday
of Advent and White Gift Sunday.
John and Sandra Dorsch and
family lit the Advent Candle of
Joy.
Donna Raynard and Tania Pletch
were in charge of the nursery.
The Grade 2 Sunday School class
presented Don't Forget. Lila
Procter did the white gift
presentation.
The choir sang Prince of Peace
and Mary Sings a Lullaby.
Paul Walker and Michelle Nixon
read from the Old Testament Isaiah
35: l-lO.
Perfect attendance awards were
presented to Matthew Cottrill and
Gabriel Carter.
The gospel reading from Luke 2:
8-14 was read by Rebecca Bruton.
Nicole Walker read a Miracle of
Christmas. Angels We Have Heard
on High was presented by the
senior class.
Don Procter and John Dorsch
took up the offering. The Sunday
School members collected the
white gifts.
Calvin-Brick held a Christmas
service on Sunday, Dec. 19
conducted by the Whitmores.
The Belgrave Women’s Institute
members and guests enjoyed a
Christmas dinner on Tuesday
evening, served by the United
Church Women.
Following the meal, the program
convenor, Dorothy Coultes,
introduced the guest speaker, Don
Pullen, a former agricultural
representative for Huron County.
He spoke of his school days in a
one-room school in Hullett Twp.
and his love of poetry. He showed
slides from prints of the settlement
of Ontario from early days until the
present day, emphasizing the
change in agriculture in this
century.
From time to time he paused to
recite a memorized poem to
illustrate a picture.
In appreciation Dorothy
presented him with a poinsettia and
she also gave a floral arrangement
to Irene Lamont, Alice Scott and
Sarah Anderson.
Everyone enjoyed singing
Christmas Carols.
