Stories tell of Christmas past

CHRISTMAS IN THE PAST
By Andrew Baker
I would not like Christmas in the
past because they only got one or
two presents. Dolls, checkers and
crokinole are the only toys that my
Grandma got.
My Grandma went skating with
her sisters and went tobogganing
after. They ate the same things as
they do now. The party was not as
busy as a party is now. They only
had their grandparents over for
Christmas.
I would want to have Christmas
now because we have more to do.
CHRISTMAS IN THE PAST
By Tiffany
Christmas a long time ago wasn’t
as much fun as now but I will tell
you about what toys they got, the
best part of Christmas the
Christmas meal and how Christmas
is different from today.
Instead of toys, people would get
an orange in their stocking, two
little candy canes and a homemade
toy.
The best part of Christmas in the
past would be the food and the
presents because they didn't get big
meals and lots of presents like we»
do now.
In the past, the meal they would
have, is maybe chicken and berries
for dessert. They would have fruit
and/or homemade pie.
Christmas is different today
because we get more presents and
have a bigger celebration. I think
that without presents, Christmas
isn't that bad because Christmas
isn't just about presents. It is for
loving, giving and sharing.
CHRISTMAS LONG AGO
By Evie Horne
When my buddy at Huconlea was
a child at Christmas she did not
have anything like now. We get
toys that are much more expensive.
She would get an orange in her
stocking. Of the toys she got when
she was young, we would not see
many anymore. We get Lego,
Barbies, Action figures and much,
much more. My buddy only got a
Did you really
see the first
Christmas?'
doll and an orange.
On Christmas morning she would
go downstairs and open presents. I
usually eat and then I open gifts.
I’m sometimes up at 7:30 or 8 on
Christmas morning.
My buddy’s Christmas was a lot
different. They used real Christmas
trees. We sometimes use those too
but I have a fake one. We get at
least 10 presents and she got three.
We don’t get an orange in our
stocking. We don’t just get a doll
or a wood toy. We get Lego and
other things. I like Christmas better
now than in the past.
CHRISTMAS WHEN OUR
GRANDPARENTS WERE KIDS
By Lindsay Watson
Think about how your
grandparents’ Christmas was. A lot
different right? Now let’s travel
back through time to their
Christmas.
On Christmas morning they
awoke and opened their gifts. Then
they would play with their gifts and
eat what they got in their stockings.
What they mostly got for a gift was
a spring top that goes round and
round. The girls would get a rag
doll. The Christmas meal was
mostly goose, stuffing, potatoes
and vegetables. Wouldn’t that be
good. In their stockings they got an
orange or an apple. They would
sometimes get candy.
Christmas is different because
they didn’t get many toys and kids
today get a lot of toys. Kids today
don’t get much fruit in their
stockings. Most families don’t eat
goose for Christmas. Most people
eat turkey. Look back at all your
wonderful Christmases and be
thankful for what you got. Be sure
to ask your grandpa or grandma
how their Christmases were
different.
Merry Christmas and have a safe
and happy new millennium!
HOW CHRISTMAS WAS IN
GRANDMOTHER’S TIME
By Chelsey McLellan
My story will tell about nice toys,
spinning toys and Christmas
morning. I will also tell about
Christmas meal and you will find
that very interesting. My
grandmother told me her version.
She also told me about what cool
toys she got and a lot more. My
grandmother got a rag doll and
maybe a spinning top.
On Christmas morning she would
get up and open a present and then
play with it, just like we do now.
For a Christmas meal they had
goose instead of yummy turkey. It
is gross but maybe they liked it.
Christmas is different because we
don’t get a lot of fruit. We also
have turkey and not goose for
Christmas meal.
She would ask for a rag doll and
maybe a spinning top. My
grandmother had a lot of different
stuff than we do. I am thankful
after reading this story that Santa
brings me the toys he does.
CHRISTMAS
By Lindsay Wood
I asked my grandma questions
about Christmas. She had toys like
skipping ropes and different dolls
and tennis balls. On Christmas
morning she opened presents. She
ate chicken. She liked Christmas
better when she was a child
because now all you do is spend
money. She did not have many
toys. My Grandma is Joan Lee.
CHRISTMAS IN OLDEN DAYS
By Zachary Hoegy
I am going to tell you a little
about Christmas in the past.
My friend at Huronlea said all he
got was wooden toys and one or
two dolls. The buddy I talked to
said he got to open one present and
eat breakfast. My buddy said he got
goose and now turkey and a tiny
piece of pie. He said Christmas is
different because of artificial trees.
This was the best Christmas story
I ever wrote. It was exciting for me
and I hope it is for you.

Turing the year, in the rush of events, we tend to
overlook the important friendships that are the true
basis of business relationships. One of the great
pleasures of the Holiday Season is the opportunity to
exchange cordial greetings with those whose friendship
and goodwill we value so highly.
In this spirit it is our pleasure to say
"Thank You " and extend our sincere appreciation for
the very pleasant association we enjoy with you.
DEAR SANTA,
Have you really been alive for
1,000 years? You better watch the
chimney you might get dirty. Santa,
do not forget to rub the rails also
paint the sleigh. You better be
expecting a gift back.
P.S. Did you really see the first
Christmas? Best wishes.
Love, Andrew Watson.
DEARSANTA,
How is the reindeer and
Rudolph? Santa, my Christmas tree
is in the same spot. Santa, you
should look out for my brothers.
Santa, you should bring a blanky.
Santa, I will be in bed and my
Mom will be in bed and my
brother’s, but not my Dad, he will
not be in bed he will be at work.
From, Cameron Schlosser.
DEAR SANTA,
How are you this year Santa? this
year our Christmas tree is
downstairs. We’re back for
Christmas. I still have my hockey
net.
From, Brendan Stretton.
