How are the elves? How are the reindeer? I’m ready for Christmas. We have our Christmas lights up. We are going to leave you a midnight snack for you. These have been made by our 10 Teen Volunteers and were funded by the Auxiliary to Wingham & District Hospital. We would like to thank Corey and Kate from Moms’ Country Crafts, Wingham, for their assistance with this project. We know the patients, visitors and staff will enjoy these wreaths on the doors. HOSPITAL AUXILIARY: Babies bom in December are being sent home in a Christmas stocking made by Auxiliary members. The next regular meeting will be held on January 24, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. in the Board Room. Y2K: The Y2K team has been working over several months to ensure that equipment, supplies, etc. are ready to meet our patient care needs when January 1st arrives. F.E. Madill Secondary School has been designated as the community shelter while the hospital is the place to go for medical emergencies. DIABETES EDUCATION: This education program is for patients with diabetes and their families. The next set of classes will be held on Tuesdays, January 18 & 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A physician’s referral is required to attend. Contact the Diabetes Education staff at 357-3210, ext. 362 for further information. NEW HEALTH CARDS: Ministry of Health staff will be at the hospital on Wednesday, January 19th to register or to replace your health card for: • new residents of Ontario • lost, damaged or stolen cards • marriage or surname changes Three original documents are required and appointments must be made. Call the Outreach Coordinator at 519-893-4059. CHOLESTEROL EDUCATION: This program is designed to help people identify foods that assist in reduction of blood cholesterol.
