Rusty Rails, from a photo he had taken in Blyth as a train rolled into town over a hill along those rusty rails. Each of the book’s seven chap ters details a rail line from its con struction to abandonment or, in one case, sale as a short line. More than 200 previously unpublished pho tographs, eight in full colour, invite readers to travel those lines. Historic data is provided for sta tions and sidings from Goderich in the west to Guelph in the east and from Stratford north to Owen Sound. Finally, the last runs with the snow-swirled caboose passing through Colborne Twp. and the work crane turned on the shoveled- clear switches of the Owen Sound wye are described. The historic photos and railway data are of special interest to histo ry buffs and model railroaders; however. Rusty Rails also offers a very personal journey through the changing landscape of rural Ontario.
