Because of all of you. getting here was quick, fairly easy, and relatively painless. I’d also like to take this opportuni ty to thank our parents. Every time we wanted to quit at anything, you never failed to kick us in the butt and keep us going. My parents would not let me miss a day of school if I was half dead and though I may not be too happy about it now. I'm sure I'll be thanking them later on. I know that we will all miss this school and the people in it, and when we all go to different high schools and meet new friends and have new teachers, we will all look back and remember our school, Grey Central. On behalf of the graduating class of 1999 I’d like to thank everyone here for making every day a great day at Grey for all of us. Party’s at Boyer’s! By Jason Snider It truly is an honour to have been chosen by my classmates to be this year’s valedictorian. As valedictorian, my duty is to repre sent all of those hooligans sitting over there, but being one of them myself, I feel that I know what I’m talking about. I have been told over and over to prepare a nice, serious speech in order for this night, and as some of you already know, serious isn’t something that I usually am. So here goes nothing! Grey Central Public School has been such a big part of all of our lives, and most of my classmates have been here for nine years, from kindergarten until now. But not every graduate has been here for that long. I remember the day I walked into my Grade 1 class at Grey for the first time ever wear ing my big green rubber boots and from then until tonight, this building has been like a second home to me and I think that it’s safe to say that we all have strong feelings for this place, but whether they be good or bad is debatable. We’ve all had such a great time this year and every other year and as much as we all hate to admit, the teachers do deserve some of the credit. With all of the homework, and the tests, and studying aside, they’re a pretty good group of peo ple, and through the years they have all taught us a lot, and not just about school but about life and for a few of us how to clean the bus windows and the kitchen fridge when we get out of line. We could always count on Mr. Mason to straighten us up when we were being bone-headed turkeys, and without Miss Robinson’s gram mar lessons, all us wouldn’t ain’t got good grammar like we do tonight. Thanks to Mrs. Kaufman, the library was a safe refuge from the other teachers that wanted us to do work, et merci beaucoup pour des lecons de francais Madamme Colquhoun. Finally I come to Mr. Colquhoun, the laxative for our constipation of the brain and our Pepto Bismol for our diarrhea of the mouth. You pre pared us for high school well, and I don’t know how you did it but some how you remained somewhat sane through it all. With your constant rearranging of desks and a few well meaning slugs to the shoulders, miraculously you kept us all on the straight and narrow. Thank you all for everything that you’ve done for us and thanks to all of the other teachers who have Memories of Blyth PS will never be forgotten Continued from page 14 Secondary School in Clinton while others will be attending F. E. Madill in Wingham. We have a lot of memories from here at Blyth Public School that we’ll never forget! I’ve heard at least one story about being little from everyone in this class, so whether they’ll admit it or not, they’re going to miss this place. I know that I have some pretty good memories from here and I hope that everyone else does too. I would now like to congratulate my fellow classmates here tonight. I want to thank our parents for their help and support. Without them, a lot of the things that we have done this year wouldn’t have been possi ble. We owe our class trip to them. I would also like to thank the teachers who have guided us over the years. Most of all, I want to thank Mrs. Hulley for being brave enough to teach us this year, and even some of us for the past two years! I know that you’ll probably never recover from having all of your “favourites” leave, but please try. We’ll miss you! Ladies and gentlemen: The gradu ating class of 1999!
