The experts on crops said we needed more heat units for the corn to finish well and we certainly are getting heat units this week. Another week of this weather would be great for the soybean harvest as well. A few farmers are working at soys, but many fields are not ready. Another week of this weather and both white beans and the soybeans will be coming off. That means more machinery, trucks and wagons on the road, so everyone drive carefully. I had a chance to speak with our former neighbour Dave Jacklin this past week about Ryan. It is a very exciting time for Ryan as he has gone to Kamloops, B.C. to go to school and to train with some of the best athletes. Ryan will finish his year for his Grade 12 and train. Dylan Armstrong is a bronze medal Olympian (2012) for Canada and has been taking note of Ryan over the past year. He approached the Jacklin parents first about Ryan going to B.C. when they were at the Canadian Championships in Nova Scotia this summer. As Dave says, it was up to Ryan, but what an amazing opportunity for him! A long way from home, agreed, but only a phone call away. Ryan goes to school everyday, then goes to train and is learning about good nutrition to build muscle strength and weight. He is focusing on hammer throw and shotput in his training with Dylan. PUBLIC MEETING will be held: 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 2, 2019 at the North Huron Township Office, 274 Josephine St, Wingham The Corporation of the Township of North Huron is undertaking a Housekeeping Amendment of the Zoning By-law, a planning document that sets out specific land use zones for the Township and lists the permitted uses and required standards for development in each zone. This amendment applies to all the lands within the Township of North Huron. A copy of the draft Zoning By-law may be accessed on the North Huron website at: www.northhuron.ca or at the North Huron Township Office (274 Josephine St, Wingham), Monday to Friday, 8:30am- 4:30pm. PURPOSE AND EFFECT This Housekeeping Amendment is to update the necessary general provisions, zoning provisions, permitted uses and definitions without doing a formal Five Year Review of the Zoning By-law. Toyin Banjoko, owner of a chain of PharmaChoice pharmacies across the region, said that when what is now the Brussels PharmaChoice Pharmacy came up for sale, he saw it as a unique opportunity. “We saw a good opportunity to put the pharmacy under our brand,” he said in an interview with The Citizen. “It will give us a chance to acquire new space.”’ Banjoko said that the Brussels pharmacy is being managed by pharmacist Tom Keller, who is great at his job. Keller said he was excited to be in Brussels because he loves small towns. He lives in Kitchener currently, but grew up in Renfrew, near Ottawa. “It’s a fair bit bigger than Brussels, but it feels like a small town,” he said when talking to The Citizen. “I’m excited to be a part of the community.” Banjoko said that sentiment extends to the entire pharmacy as he feels it will be able to support community initiatives. “We’re planning to support the community because that benefits everyone,” he said, adding he wants to see Brussels continue to grow. Banjoko and Keller took over the site on Sept. 3, and immediately began adding services to the site, including compounding. Compounding is, according to the two pharmacists, the ability to duplicate compounds that aren’t commonly available. From recreating discontinued medications to measuring out hormone medications to personalizing medicine, compounding makes sure locals can get exactly the medication they Continued on page 9 I need to be daily kept! (James Smith’s autobiography, “Marvelous Mercy!” 1862) The following in an excerpt from the diary of James Smith: April 16, 1854. During the past week I have had one of the most severe asthmatic attacks I ever experienced. How painful to labour and gasp for breath, as I then did. How different the things of time appear under such circumstances! How soon one feels willing to spread the wings and fly away. May I daily live under the impression I then felt. How I long... for closer communion with God, to feel more of the sweet power of piety in my own heart, to walk with God in confidence, to lean upon Him, to cast every care upon Him, to leave everything with Hom, to aim always, and in everything to glorify Him, to walk through the worl as if one was walking straight home to God—to dwell with and to enjoy Him forever! Yet I feel that I need to be daily kept—to have the Lord’s eye constantly upon me, and His everlasting arms always beneath me! “Hold me up—and I shall be safe!” Psalm 119:117 A Grace Gem Submitted by: Immanuel United Reformed Church, Listowel, ON 519-291-1956 Give a wave North Woods Elementary School’s Hannah Reibeling, left, and Austin McIntosh give a wave as they ride in the Brussels Fall Fair parade last Wednesday.
