Blyth battles Auburn
in hard-hitting game
It was a high-scoring, hard-hit-
ting competition when Auburn
came to Blyth, Aug. 6, to bat the
ball around the diamond.
New recruit Ben Caldwell had
two big hits while helping on
defense as well.
Justin Ritchie added to the team
total by smashing a grand slam.
Eric Caldwell did his job with sev-
eral singles.
Brittney Cook made a good
defensive play, getting a runner out
at second.
However, the Blyth team took
31-19 loss.

opportunity to try CDs, when a

This is just part of the library
material Librarian Pat Brigham
hopes to obtain for the facility
through fundraising efforts which
will be undertaken through the
month of August.
With cutbacks at every level of
government, Brigham says the
library and the community has to
raise funds to help maintain the ser-
vices.
As well as selling hotdogs this
past weekend during the homecom-
ing events, Brigham will be collect-
ing grocery tapes from Scrim-
geour's Food Market.
With the book budget slashed,
some magazine and newspaper sub-
scriptions will have to be cancelled
unless residents volunteer to cover
the annual or bi-annual rate,
Brigham says, some of the publica-
tions on the endangered list include
Canadian Quilts, Chatelaine,
Wingham Advance-Times, Con-
sumer Reports, McLeans or Time
and Ilarrowsmith.
Anyone interested in contributing
to the continuing services at the
Blyth Library may contact Pat
Brigham during hours of operation:
Tuesday, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7
p.m. to 9 p.m.; Thursday 1 p.m. to
5 p.m. and 7 p.m to 9 p.m. and Sat-
urday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Cash donations are also wel-
come, with income tax receipts
issued for amounts greater than
$10. Donations can be mailed to
P.O. Box 388 Blyth, NOM 1H0.
August is open house month, so
everyone is invited to check out the
library, now in its fifth year at the
present location.
