council
briefs
With the downloading deadline
for police services drawing close,
Blyth Reeve Mason Bailey told
council, at the Nov. 18 meeting,
that the local restructuring commit
tee would be pursuing the issue
immediately.
A meeting is planned with the
Wingham police chief as well as a
representative from the OPP, said
Bailey.
The committee is also still trying
to get Morris, Tumberry and Ash
field Twps. involved in restructur
ing talks, he said.
Council was advised that the
county is also looking into the cost
of county-wide OPP service.
"It is a race for power," said
Councillor Doug Scrimgeour.
Bailey added that the local com
mittee is also leaning towards the
northern 10 municipalities in Huron
becoming two, if amalgamation
occurs.
Council passed a motion to write
off business taxes totalling
$890.34, from a single operation.•••
Reserves were boosted with
transfers of $3,800 to the fire
