Cooking Chefs receive awards The Brussels #1 Cooking Chefs held their achievement program on Nov. 20 at Maple Villa from 7 - 8:30 p.m. Missy Engel started it off by leading members in the 4-H pledge and introducing two guests. Kim Higgins did a demonstration on judging. She showed how to judge bread, cupcakes, shortbread and menus. Next Anne Yuzwa-Rielly introduced the members of the club and Ashley Keffer talked about a poster they had made which gives a lot of useful baking tips. Thelma Dougherty talked about all the things that are associated with 4-H and some really neat things they are offering that members should take advantage of before some of the activities are taken away due to lack of interest. Then Cynthia De Wit did a demonstration on making edible Christmas place names out of marshmallows and decorative icing. They are actually really quite neat. Following the demonstration Cathy Bridge presented awards to the members. Most people got the Social Recreation bar (from the previous club) and the Batter Up bar. Missy Engel received her sixth club award and Cynthia De Wit completed her 30-club award. Missy officially closed the achievement program with the 4-H motto. All those in attendance were then able to enjoy tea, juice and cupcakes which they were able to decorate. Clarification would like to thank the sponsors for donations of prizes. For all the support from the people, the membership and helpers for making our Annual Stag a great success. - Prize Winners • $300. Doug Coch - Gowanstown $200. Fred Durnin - Goderich $150.
